WASHINGTON, DC: In Donald Trump's classified documents case, US District Judge Aileen Cannon stated on Tuesday, June 4, that she would permit parties to dispute Jack Smith's appointment as special counsel, HuffPost stated.

Due to the very unusual ruling, political members who are not otherwise involved in the case will be permitted to attend a hearing on June 21 and provide their opinions on Trump's attempt to limit Smith's authority.

Judge Aileen Cannon said she would allow third parties to argue in Trump's defense at hearing

Cannon will get statements from three of these 'friends of the court'. Josh Blackman and Gene Schaerr, two of them, will argue on behalf of Trump, while Matthew Seligman, a third, will support Smith's ongoing involvement in the case.

Notably, Blackman and the Landmark Legal Foundation will contend that special counsels are not constitutionally authorized to bring legal action based on pre-hearing documents.

According to Seligman, Smith exercises such power, that he attacked Blackman's reasoning as being 'at war with precedent and with reason' in a countermove.

Moreover, legal experts say Cannon’s decision to consider Trump’s argument against Smith is questionable, and permitting so-called 'friends of the court' who are otherwise unrelated to the criminal trial to weigh in for 30 minutes apiece is highly unusual.

National security legal expert Bradley Moss told CNN, "The fact these motions are even being entertained with a hearing is itself ridiculous. That third parties are being allowed to opine at the hearing is absurd."

Trump's criminal trial was put on hold indefinitely in May by his appointee Cannon. The ruling perplexed Legal experts, including Trump's former attorneys.

Former Trump White House lawyer Ty Cobb referred to Cannon's choice as 'inexplicable'. Cobb told CNN, "I think I once said to be fair to her she may merely be incompetent. But no, this is a combination of bias and incompetence."

He added, "She has not honored the public’s interest for one day in this case."

Democratic lawmakers are likewise dubious about the judge's current actions. Sen Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) told HuffPost on Wednesday, June 5, "I think this judge is simply trying to postpone or delay the ultimate resolution."

Internet slams Judge Cannon as she will allow third parties to argue in Trump's defense at hearing

Several internet users trolled Judge Aileen Cannon as she said she would permit parties to dispute Jack Smith's appointment as special counsel in Donald Trump's classified documents case.

Some online comments read "This lady is stone-cold bonkers! I didn't think Trump U had a law school!" and "Mister Trump and Cannon are making a mockery of the legal system. It is a system of laws that can be abused by a defendant, prosecution, or judge."

Another comment read, "Cannon should be removed from the bench immediately, or otherwise overruled! She has demonstrated that she is not qualified in the slightest to be a judge and cannot be trusted to be fair and impartial!"

A comment also stated, "Haha, this judge is not hiding she is compromised and it isn't doing her job while being neutral. This is what the GOP wants. Judges, cops, and officials to flat-out side with them regardless."
