Amy Robach addresses struggles on 'Amy & TJ' podcast amid concerns of plummeting audience numbers
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former 'Good Morning America' host Amy Robach has opened up about being worried about the success of her podcast with partner TJ Holmes, reported The US Sun.
The confession came after a recent report suggested that the number of audiences for 'Amy & TJ' has plummeted to a serious low.
The couple revealed they are not 'OK'
According to The Sun, a surprise episode of the podcast was released on January 23, where Robach, 50, and Holmes, 46, admitted to fighting and wanted to talk it out on air. The latter thus asked his partner if she was available, and he brought the equipment over to her house and they recorded.
"I invited you and wanted you to come by because we ain't right," said Holmes. "You and I aren't ok right now."
Proceeding to talk about the comments they received on social media which mentioned how happy they look, the couple shared that it was not the case at all.
Holmes expressed that, at the moment, he felt like an impostor for not embodying the joyful couple image they purposefully portrayed online.
Amy Robach had high expectations for the podcast
It stemmed from the fact that they had been working hard on the project since the summer of 2023.
"I've also said that expectations are absolutely a case for suffering," she stated, "So I have to work hard and remove them from my head."
The television star shared that she had never been responsible for bookings, ratings, or downloads in her career until she started the podcast with Holmes.
"The pressure of all that, I think has consumed both of us," she added.
The couple has lately experienced communication gaps, as Robach said that they have been sitting in silence with each other lately, and she was "not great at that."
The fallen ratings of 'Amy & TJ'
When the podcast premiered on December 5, 2023, the first episode ranked among the top 5 in the United States, according to the major podcasting analytics platform Chartable.
However, the interest was short-lived, as, by the end of the first month, the show had ranked down to the 243rd spot.
An industry source told The Sun, "There was a ton of interest in what they were going to say about their affair and being cut from ABC in the aftermath, but I'm not sure anyone expected that interest to continue much beyond that."
However, there was a moment of brief recovery in January, when the couple talked about their drinking habit, taking the podcast up to rank 136.
Ratings from other platforms, such as Apple and Spotify, have also shown similar figures.
