Slaton, 36, and her boyfriend were arrested on Monday afternoon, September 2, after an incident at West Tennessee Safari Park.
Per WREG, a CBS affiliate based out of Tennessee, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department took Slaton and Lovvron into custody after the police responded to reports that a camel bit a guest.
Why was Amy Slaton arrested?
Initially, the police responded to a location at the Safari Park after a guest complained of getting bitten by a camel.
When the deputies arrived, they were “immediately” overwhelmed by a suspicious odor coming from Amy Slaton and Brian Lovvron’s vehicle.
According to a Facebook post by Crockett County Sheriff's Department, Slaton and her boyfriend were feeding camels when one of them or someone from their party was bitten by a camel.
Meanwhile, after finding the suspicious smell, the police searched their vehicle, only to find illegal drugs in it, per The US Sun.
Though the nature of the drugs has not been made public, the reality star and her boyfriend were arrested and charged with illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule IV, and two counts of child endangerment.
They have been booked into the Crockett County Jail, and no further information about their arrest has been released yet.
Amy Slaton and ex Michael Halterman's divorce battle
Amy Slaton’s arrest happened a year after she finalized her divorce from ex-husband Michael Halterman on September 6, 2023.
Halterman filed for divorce in March 2023 and the dissolution of their marriage was granted in September, six months after battling out in court.
Per The US Sun, a memo from the court documents of their marital settlement read, "Marital settlement agreement is approved and incorporated by reference as if set forth verbatim and the parties are ordered to obey the terms thereof."
The outlet reported that while Halterman filed for divorce from Slaton in March, the TLC star accused her high-school sweetheart-turned-husband of domestic violence a month earlier in February.
The charges were later dropped. Their divorce battle included a lengthy custody battle over their two children, Gage and Glenn as well. The judge later ordered them to split the custody of their two children, to which they agreed.
