A Reddit user, Aggressive-Debt-8124, recently took to the platform's popular "Am I the A**hole" (AITA) forum to ask if they were wrong for requesting a fellow business class passenger to move his carry-on bag.

The incident took place on a six-hour flight from California to Canada, where the Redditor, traveling with just a laptop bag for easy access to electronics, found the window seat passenger had placed his carry-on in front of their aisle seat.

The original poster (OP) shared that he politely asked the man to move his bag to the spot in front of him, but he refused, claiming there wasn’t enough space for him due to his height. He even told the Redditor to put their suitcase in the overhead bin instead.

The OP refused, explaining that they needed the space for easy access to their laptop and wanted to use the space in front of them. As the situation escalated, other passengers began agreeing with the window seat passenger, calling the OP unreasonable.

However, the Redditor pushed back, saying, "I told him, 'Why do you get access to space in front of you, in front of me when we both paid for business class seats?'"

Eventually, the passenger moved his bag after things got heated, but the OP was still taken aback by how other passengers sided with the man.

In the post, the Redditor expressed their surprise, writing, "I was just so shocked when the other passengers were agreeing with him!" and asked, "AITA?"

The Reddit community overwhelmingly sided with the OP, with many agreeing that it was reasonable for them to ask the other passenger to move his bag.

One wrote, "Him being tall is not your problem."

Another added, "NTA. This happened to me. I got to the seat and my neighbor had a carry on in my foot space. I pulled it out and handed to the person. I didn’t ask, I don’t have time."

"I would have asked him to pay 50% of my fare and hire the space from me," an individual shared.

"By carry-on, do you mean the personal item that goes under the seat in front of you? If so, definitely NTA. That is odd behavior to use someone else’s leg room with your belongings, and you had the right to ask him to move it," one more wrote in support of OP.

A person stated, "NTA. It’s your space and he was in it. Don’t let something like this get that far; instead, after his first refusal to act like an adult, involve the FA. Best case he pisses them off and doesn’t get to take his flight, and now you’ve got even more space. 😂"

Another chimed in, "NTA. Your fellow AH passengers didn’t want to have to deal with any flight delays, which would’ve been the fault of the king AH (dude who bogarted your space). Never let the crowd, when they’re wrong, and they were, pressure you to put up with unfair treatment."
