'AITA for gifting daughter presents meant for woman my husband was having an affair with?'

In a post on the AITA subreddit, a user named Extension_Piece_6114 shared a dramatic and emotionally charged story from her past, asking whether she was in the wrong for gifting two bracelets — meant for her ex-husband’s affair partner — to her daughter.

The user detailed an event from 2018, when she and her now ex-husband, Joe, visited his sister, Jill, for Christmas. During the trip, Joe’s behavior seemed off - he wouldn’t talk to her, and Jill ignored her.

Joe was also unusually protective of his backpack, refusing to let anyone touch it. A month earlier, the user had found a prepaid card in Joe’s wallet, which he claimed was for work. When asked if he was having an affair, Joe denied it.

"A month prior to leaving I found a prepaid card in his wallet. I took it to see what he would say. He asked about it and said it was for work. I "found" it and gave it back to him. About a week later I asked if he was having an affair. He said no and I dropped it," the OP explained.

However, when the family returned from the trip, the user snooped in Joe's backpack while he was showering, finding two bracelets and a gift bag. She decided to hide them, "While he was is showering I looked and found 2 bracelets and a gift bag I took the two bracelets and hid them."

When Joe discovered they were missing, he demanded they be returned, claiming the bracelets were meant for her anniversary. "He came storming in demanding I give the bracelets back. I simply replied 'what bracelets.' He said he bought them for me for our anniversary next month."

She further added, "He knows I don't wear bracelets and actually hate them."

Later, she found texts on Joe's phone that confirmed the affair, which, though hurtful, didn’t surprise her, as the couple had long been heading toward divorce.

Fast forward two years, and the couple was going through an amicable divorce. While helping Joe pack, the user found the two bracelets she had hidden all those years ago.

The OP wrote, "While cleaning I found the two bracelets I had hid years ago and forgot about. I didn't want them but our middle child (f15) loves jewelry."

She further added, "We were separated but decided to have Christmas at the house together. So Christmas morning comes and kids are opening gifts. The look on Joe's face as our daughter opens the bracelets was priceless!"

"They were rose gold- her favorite! Her face was beaming with joy. He sat there looking at the jewelry like a deer in headlights," OP wrote explaining.
