NEW YORK: In a decisive victory, Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez easily won her Democratic primary, overcoming a challenge from conservative-backed newcomer Marty Dolan.

The Associated Press called the race less than 20 minutes after polls closed at 9 pm, underscoring Ocasio-Cortez's strong support in her district.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez cruises to victory in New York

The primary contest drew attention far beyond the 14th Congressional District’s Bronx and Queens boundaries, largely due to Ocasio-Cortez’s high-profile status.

Adding to the spectacle, a conservative Texas group, the Job Creators Network, showcased their lack of New York City geography by placing anti-AOC billboards in Times Square—miles away from her district. The billboards, which endorsed Dolan and urged Ocasio-Cortez "Time to pack it up," only fueled the media frenzy.

Despite the outside interference, Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent member of the progressive 'Squad,' demonstrated her strong hold on the deep-blue district, reported New York Post. With this primary win behind her, she is poised to retain her seat in the upcoming November 5th general election. 

Internet unimpressed after AOC wins NY again

In the wake of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's decisive primary victory, social media has erupted with a wave of strong reactions. While some users decried her win with scathing comments, others pointed out the paradoxical effect of conservative disdain bolstering her support.

A social media user tweeted, "She has literally not crafted a single piece of legislation for her constituents. Amazing."

A second said, "Come on NY? Wth! You can do better!"

Third added, "She's the Nancy Pelosi of big booty Latinas, she's never going away"

"Conservatives hate and mock her so much, it makes people want to vote for her more," read a tweet.

"I have no remorse for the people of NY. You want it, you got it," penned an individual.

"Jesus, what a travesty," said a user.

"about 750,000 people live in her district... she only got ~25,000 votes," remarked an individual.

"How does she win. Honestly," said an appalled individual. 

"Total fraud nobody likes AOC," read another tweet. 

"She has that seat for life," asserted a social media user.
