Alice Evans claims Ioan Gruffudd left her so poor she 'can't afford to feed' their children amid divorce
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: According to court documents, Alice Evans made several shocking remarks about her former husband Ioan Gruffudd following their contentious divorce.
The 55-year-old British-American was married to Welsh actor Gruffudd, 50, in 2007. However, their marriage collapsed violently, and their divorce was finally finalized in July 2023. Now that their three-year settlement dispute has ended, things between them have become toxic.
Alice Evans claims she's 'struggling to put food on table' after Ioan Gruffudd divorce
Actress Alice Evans' tumultuous divorce from her actor ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd took a surprising turn on Tuesday, July 2, when claimed that her ex-husband had not paid child support since May.
She also claimed that her financial situation had become so bad that she would have to apply for food stamps in order to "put food on the table."
The mother of two claimed to have "100 per cent" custody of her and Gruffudd's two daughters, Ella, 14, and Elsie, 10, in court filings filed by Evans' attorneys on July 1, obtained by Daily Mail.
However, she claimed that since their custody agreement was finalized two months ago, she has not received any financial support from him.
The Bristol-born actress stated in court documents that her ex-husband bought lavish gifts for his fiance Bianca Wallace but gave Evans nothing in return.
Evans claimed she is "struggling to put food on the table" and that Gruffudd has been "jetting around the world" and leading a "lavish lifestyle," just weeks after the former couple finally settled their divorce.
She stated in the court documents: "While I am struggling to put food on the table for the children, Ioan is jet setting around the world."
In addition to going on a worldwide press tour for the newest 'Bad Boys' movie, 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die,' Evans claimed that Gruffudd had purchased new Rolex watches for both himself and his fiancée Bianca, while Evans was set to apply for food stamps.
Evans claimed Gruffudd and Bianca "recently purchased new Rolex watches" and cited "stories in the media" suggesting her ex-spouse "purchased an expensive engagement ring for his fiancée."
However, Evans has asked the court that Gruffudd give her spousal and child support until their financial trial, which has been postponed from April to August, because of her ex's alleged "lavish lifestyle."
Alice Evans accused ex Ioan Gruffudd of not speaking to their kids for a year
According to Evans' attorney, Janina Verano, Ioan Gruffudd has not seen the children outside of reunification therapy since May 2023, nor has he "exercised his court-ordered right" to speak with them by phone three times a week.
Evans stated: "Ioan has not telephoned the children or returned their text messages since May of 2023. The children have been left in limbo and are completely confused about when or if they will see Ioan."
Evans claimed that she is currently in "dire" financial circumstances and has paid $112,000 in legal fees.
She stated, "I cannot wait months for a trial to receive child support and spousal support." Evans claimed to currently receive about $300 in royalties each month and seeks to increase her income by doing appearances at fan conventions.
She said: "I have drained all of my personal savings paying my prior attorneys in this case," adding that she cannot afford to pay the monthly storage price despite having some designer items in storage that might be sold.
"As it stands I am behind on rent and utility payments and friends have started dropping off groceries and food so the children can eat. I will be applying for food stamps and welfare," Evans stated.
She asserted that based on Gruffudd's tax returns, he makes tens of thousands of dollars a month and that in December 2023, he took home a sum of money estimated to be around $390,000.
