DUQUESNE, PENNSYLVANIA: Alisha Parker, a 26-year-old mother from Duquesne, has been charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of a child after her 3-month-old baby boy was found unresponsive.
In a startling turn of events, Parker has attempted to shift the blame on her daughter asserting that the 3-year-old's death resulted from sibling jealousy.
What resulted in the death of the three-year-old child?
The Allegheny County Police Department responded to a report of the infant's condition around 2 am on Sunday, January 7, and despite first responders' efforts, the child could not be revived and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office determined that the cause of the baby's death was blunt force trauma to the head, leading to the criminal charges against Parker. However, what makes this case even more distressing is Parker's alleged attempt to shift blame onto her 3-year-old daughter when questioned by investigators.
Court documents revealed that Parker, when confronted by the police, suggested that her "jealous" 3-year-old daughter might be responsible for the tragic incident. Parker stated, "If there’s anything that happened out of the ordinary, my 3-year-old child did it, and y'all need to do something about that," as per WTAE.
Authorities disprove mother's blame game
However, authorities quickly debunked Parker's attempt to implicate her young daughter. The medical examiner's office clarified that the injuries sustained by the infant were inflicted by an adult, not a child.
Detectives and a doctor emphasized that given the severity of the injuries, including a skull fracture, Parker's 3-year-old daughter, who measures 3-foot-5 and weighs 29 pounds, would not have had the physical capability to cause such harm.
Moreover, police disclosed that Parker, who was the only adult present at the time of the incident, admitted to consuming six shots of tequila on the night in question. Her arrest followed on Wednesday, and she is currently held in the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
