WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump has recently promoted a conspiracy theory claiming that E Jean Carroll, the author who won a defamation lawsuit against him, was coached by CNN's Anderson Cooper during an off-air commercial break in their interview.

In response, Anderson Cooper interrupted his programming to directly address the accusation, attributing it to Trump's apparent misunderstanding of how commercial breaks work during prerecorded interviews.

"So the former president seems to be suggesting that something we discussed, or that I discussed, with E Jean Carroll during a four-minute long commercial break that you would have been watching at home, made Ms Carroll change her tone toward him," said Cooper.

"Not sure her tone actually changed after the second block of the interview, but that's beside the point."

"The problem with this conspiracy theory is that this interview was actually pre-recorded and we had to pre-record a toss to a commercial break and then welcome viewers back after the commercial break so that the entire two parts of the interview would fit into my show that night," Cooper added.

When a news anchor performs these duties, he elaborated, "You don't sit there for the entire four minutes of the commercial break with the guest just waiting to then come back to the show. Because it's pre-recorded, you don't have to sit there during commercial break."

He continued, "You just take a few seconds, you make sure that control room is still recording, you welcome viewers back as if you've just come out of a commercial break, and you continue with the interview."

"So while Trump is currently suggesting, I sat through a commercial break on live TV with E Jean Carroll telling her to be angry or whatever, we actually just paused in a pre-recorded interview for a few seconds," Cooper asserted.

"And if you don't believe me, here's the raw, unedited video of what was actually being recorded," Cooper said before playing the footage. The video showed Cooper pausing briefly to speak with his producer before quickly resuming the interview, with no other actions taking place during the break, as per Raw Story.

Trump, while seeking to appeal the over $80 million judgment in the Carroll case, launched into a vehement tirade during a New York press conference, where he accused Anderson Cooper of misconduct during the interview with E Jean Carroll.

Internet ridicules Anderson Cooper

As soon as Anderson Cooper's statement surfaced on social media, users began criticizing him.

A user said, "Anderson Cooper is a Democrat operative masquerading as a journalist. He should not be trusted when covering Republicans."

Another slammed, "Yall are disgusting propagandists."

A third commentator added, "All you do is lie and deceive!"

"You’re pure trash," one wrote blasting Cooper.

One of the Trump's supporters defended him saying, "Trump didn't do it...It's all a lie...Carroll is an unflattering scum who has hurt women's plight for fairness. How did I do?"

Another added, "You should be fired."
