CARY, NORTH CAROLINA: A six-year-old girl tragically died while playing outside her home in Cary, North Carolina, as she was struck by a reckless driver, who reportedly also used inappropriate language when talking about the incident to the police.

Andrew Everett, 50, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, asserted that Joselin Perez Hernandez unexpectedly jumped in front of him. However, it should be noted that he was speeding past her house at the time of the incident on December 29, according to Daily Mail.

As per reporters, Hernandez was playing near the sidewalk in front of her home shortly before noon when Everett's vehicle struck her. She was quickly transported to WakeMed Cary Hospital where she unfortunately died shortly after due to severe brain and spine injuries.

According to a recently released search warrant, authorities discovered marijuana drug paraphernalia in Everett's car and that he was driving up to 15 miles over the speed limit.

During the investigation, Everett stated, "I'm not sure why this investigation is taking more than five minutes, it wasn't my fault, no one was watching her and she jumped out in front of me. That r****d."

It's worth noting that it remains unclear if the little girl had any disabilities.

Andrew Everett displayed impatience and showed a lack of remorse during the probe for Joselin Perez Hernandez's death

Following the accident, Walnut Street between Ryan Road and Ralph Drive was closed due to the crash. The Honda Fit involved exhibited damage to the front right side and a cracked windshield.

Contrary to Everett's claim of Hernandez jumping in front of the vehicle, police noted the absence of skid marks on the road, suggesting he did not attempt to brake.

Law enforcement further stated that the speeding driver showed a lack of remorse, had a delayed reaction to the crash, and displayed impatience during the investigation.

In memory of the child, the community has erected a memorial consisting of stuffed animals and flowers outside the Hernandez home.

Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht expressed his condolences, saying, "Our deepest condolences go out to the grieving family facing the untimely death of their child. Our community stands united in support, offering strength and compassion to all those affected by this profound loss."

Everett is currently held in the Wake County Jail under a $26,000 bond, with his next court date scheduled for January 22.
