Angel Sanchez Jr faces charges of assault with intent to cause bodily harm
As per KTLA, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) stated Sanchez Jr was arrested in Oxnard at 2.15 pm, a day after surveillance footage captured him assaulting the victim and pushing his infant grandchild, who was in a stroller.
The victim reported the incident to LASD on Tuesday evening, stating that it occurred in the 4000 block of Lost Spring Road, as confirmed by an LASD spokesperson.
On Wednesday evening, LASD announced the arrest of Sanchez Jr on charges of assault with force likely to cause significant bodily injury, as reported by KTLA.
The incident, captured in front of Dr Bahareh Talei's Calabasas residence, as reported by CBS News, depicts the assailant approaching the victim and delivering a forceful left hook to his face.
Subsequently, the man in his 60s collapsed to the ground, causing the stroller with his 10-month-old grandchild to tip over. The attacker then entered a minivan parked in a driveway not belonging to him and drove away.
According to KTLA, the LASD later identified the vehicle as a silver 2005 Honda Odyssey with Nevada license plate No 183W8.
Angel Sanchez Jr is allegedly tied to a second assault
LASD spokesperson Sgt Brandon Painter stated that the department also had suspicions about Sanchez Jr being involved in a second assault on a boy that occurred in the same general area around a similar time, as per ABC7 News.
The boy was apparently attacked on a bike path along Las Virgenes Road. Moreover, the LASD noted that both victims belonged to the AAPI community, though the motive for the attacks is presently unclear and is currently under investigation.
