ST ROCH, NEW ORLEANS: Anastasia Rayborn, a 21-year-old woman from New Orleans, died in an alleged hit-and-run incident involving her boyfriend, Anthony Cooper, 31.
The fatal altercation occurred on a sidewalk in New Orleans on Monday, March 11, leaving the girlfriend fatally injured after she was reportedly slammed into a wall by her boyfriend's vehicle.
Witnesses detail event leading to fatal collision
According to police reports and witness testimonies, the tragic incident unfolded shortly after a heated argument between Rayborn and Cooper. Witnesses stated that the girlfriend exited her boyfriend's Ford Edge SUV and called him a “f**king b***h", before the situation escalated dramatically, reported Nola.com, citing court documents.
Eyewitnesses recounted how Cooper, allegedly accelerated his vehicle “at a high rate of speed … hitting Rayborn, and slamming her through the wall" of a nearby house.
The impact proved fatal for the woman, leading to her untimely demise at the scene.

The relationship between Rayborn and Cooper, marred by contention and strife according to family members, had been a cause for concern prior to the tragic event. The pair began dating when Rayborn was just 17 and Cooper was 27. They have a 2-year-old toddler.
The victim's sister, Skye Guillory, expressed her disapproval of Cooper, recounting, “I never really liked him,” reported WWL.
Guillory revealed distressing details about the relationship dynamics, highlighting instances where she provided Rayborn with a "safe word" to signal distress due to mounting concerns over Cooper's behavior.
“I got her out of that situation more than once,” she alleged. “I’m livid. That’s how I feel.”
Tragically, these efforts were not enough to prevent the fatal outcome of the altercation.
Initially classified as a car accident, the incident has since been reclassified as a homicide by New Orleans authorities.
Cooper has been taken into custody, facing second-degree murder charges in connection with Rayborn's death.
