SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: The heart-wrenching aftermath of a devastating collision in San Francisco has taken another tragic turn as 6-month-old Caue, the sole survivor of the bus stop crash that claimed the lives of his parents and brother, has also succumbed to his injuries.

Caue, who was being treated in Oakland following the Saturday, March 16, horrific incident, tragically lost his battle for life on Wednesday. March 20.

Insights into tragic crash

The crash, which occurred when a 78-year-old woman allegedly drove her SUV into a bus stop while going the wrong way, resulted in the loss of Caue's father, Diego Cardoso de Oliveria, who worked as an associate creative director for Apple, along with his 1-year-old brother, Joaquin.

The devastating toll continued as Caue's mother, Mathilde, passed away in an area hospital the following day, amplifying the profound grief that has gripped the community, as per New York Post.

Family decides to donate baby Caue's organs

In the face of unspeakable tragedy, the family chose to donate Caue's organs. Supervisor Myrna Melgar, representing the area, confirmed this noble gesture, underscoring the family's strength amidst unfathomable loss.

A poignant vigil held in West Portal saw over 100 mourners gathering to pay their respects to the family.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed, while offering condolences, described the crash as "heartbreaking" and placed flowers at the memorial, reflecting the city's collective sorrow.

Meanwhile, the suspected driver of the SUV, Mary Fong Lau, remains under investigation. 

Arrested on suspicion of multiple felony counts including vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving, Lau, who was also hospitalized post-crash, is reportedly cooperating with authorities.

However, as of now, she has not been formally charged with any crimes.
