On Thursday, March 30, a Manhattan jury rendered a historic verdict, finding Donald Trump guilty of all 34 charges of falsifying business records. This unprecedented decision marks Trump the first former president in United States history to be convicted of a felony. Notably, Trump also becomes the first major-party presidential nominee to be convicted of a crime during a White House campaign. Furthermore, if he were to succeed in defeating President Joe Biden in November, he would be the first sitting president in history to hold the status of a convicted felon. The jury's verdict in the hush money trial was announced following nearly 12 hours of deliberation over two days. Ultimately, it will be up to the voters in November to determine the impact of the guilty verdict, which, from a legal standpoint, does not disqualify him from running for president again. “This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5, by the people, and they know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here,” the 77-year-old MAGA strongman said after leaving the courtroom. “We didn’t do anything wrong. I’m a very innocent man,” he said as he pledged to appeal the ruling in higher courts. However, netizens had their share of the fun, by posting through the trial proceedings and reacting to the news that was coming out of the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse. Here are 10 hysterical memes that present the immediate impact Thursday's verdict has had on the general public.
