LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Bill Maher has sharply criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for avoiding media outlets that aren't firmly within the liberal echo chamber, arguing that she is missing a critical opportunity to connect with undecided voters.

On a recent episode of his 'Club Random with Bill Maher' podcast, where he spoke with renowned director Quentin Tarantino, Maher highlighted a longstanding issue he perceives within the Democratic Party: a tendency to shy away from engaging with voters who lie outside their ideological base.

Bill Maher criticizes Kamala Harris for avoiding media outreach to centrist voters

Bill Maher contends that Kamala Harris, along with other Democrats, has a pattern of avoiding interactions with media platforms that might reach voters who are "not ideologically captured by either side".

He expressed frustration that Harris does not engage with media figures who could potentially reach such voters, suggesting that this reluctance makes the party appear "scared".

Maher pointed out, "But the bigger issue is the left and their ability or their desire to engage with anyone who’s not already in the bubble. And they get a big fat D minus on that."

"I mean, you see Kamala, I mean, I’m glad she’s doing well, I’m glad we have a real fight now for president. But [she] doesn’t talk to the press. You know? Would never go near me. You know, when you won’t go near the people who are going to vote for you."

Tarantino interjected, questioning the necessity for Harris to appear on Maher's show before the election.

Maher responded by emphasizing the importance of reaching out to voters in the middle of the political spectrum. "Yes, there is," Maher insisted. "Because I speak to the exact voter she needs, the person who is in the middle, the person who is not ideologically captured by either side."

Bill Maher stresses importance of engaging undecided voters

Bill Maher elaborated that while his audience includes a diverse mix of political perspectives, it is particularly valuable for reaching those undecided voters who could tip the balance in crucial swing states.

"The MSNBC crowd is already voting for her. People who watch me, who will decide, this election will probably be decided in like four states by something like 80,000 votes in each," he noted. "That’s how [close] these elections are these days."

As Tarantino argued that Harris' campaign was doing well, Maher clarified his stance. He emphasized that his criticism wasn't about Harris personally but rather about a broader Democratic trend.

"When I say that she doesn’t talk to the press, I’m not even complaining about it. I’m just saying that is the Democrats, and that has been their flaw, and there are some times when you really do. And in general, they should start doing it more: Talking to people who are not already on their side, they come across as scared," Maher concluded.

Recently, Maher had said on his show 'Real Time With Bill Maher' that Harris shunning the media is "more insulting" than former president Trump's verbal attacks against news organizations.
