NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Melania Trump's body language at the Al Smith dinner this week signaled a rare display of affection and support for her husband, Donald Trump, according to body language expert Judi James.

This marked the first public appearance of the couple since the Republican National Convention in July, prompting speculation about the former first lady's earlier absence from her spouse's campaign events.

Judi James, in an interview, described their interactions as “one of the most openly agreeable, united and even affectionate body language PDAs from this couple in recent years,” per The Mirror.

The couple's "twinning" black outfits were seen as a symbolic choice, suggesting intentional coordination. "Not only have then dressed in matching outfits to provide a visual 'twinning' that suggests a pre-planned intentional gesture to look bonded. Melania has also swept her hair to the side that ensures Donald has her full attention and that when she moves in close to chat to him her hair forms a curtain that bares her face to him while hiding it from the public that makes that chat look even more intimate."

"When Trump leans across her to chat to the guy to her left Melania keeps her eyes on his face with a smile of affection and approval (that doesn't drop like a brick when he looks away)," adding, "She actually performs some hair preening rituals as she gazes, forming what looks like some rather flirty signals to her husband," continued James.

Body expert sees Donald Trump and Melania Trump's united front as 'double-act' ahead of election

As the evening progressed, Donald Trump made efforts to include Melania Trump in conversations with other guests, leaning in to speak to her and drawing smiles and laughter from his wife.

"Even when he pulls one of his comedy faces she performs a complimentary, puckered smile to suggest she finds his sense of fun irresistible," James stated. "With a run-up to the election these two look determined to present themselves here (very publicly) as a close, affectionate double-act," she stated.

With just less than 3 weeks until Election Day, James concluded that the couple appeared determined to project themselves as a "close, affectionate double-act," presenting a united front ahead of the 2024 presidential race where Trump faces Democratic presidential frontrunner Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Waltz.
