FRESNO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: A 14-year-old boy is accused of killing his parents and gravely hurting his sister at their home in rural Fresno County in California. The teen was taken into custody on Wednesday, December 27, according to the authorities.

The suspect, who is not being identified due to his age, called the sheriff's office after the double slaying.

California teen blamed murders on fictitious intruder

The 14-year-old boy reported that someone had broken into their Miramonte home, attacked his family, and then fled in a truck, according to Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni during a news conference on Friday, December 29.

Zanoni claims that after some time, investigators found discrepancies in the boy's account.

"Evidence ultimately showed that he had fabricated the story of a break-in and was responsible for using multiple weapons to attack his mom, his dad and his sister," Zanoni stated according to Daily Beast.

The 37-year-old mother and father were recognized as Lue Yang and Se Vang. Their daughter suffered serious injuries and had surgery, but she is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect's brother, who is seven years old, was not hurt in the incident. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office reports that family members are taking care of the other sibling.

After being detained, the suspect was placed in the juvenile hall.

What are the charges against the 14-year-old boy?

The sheriff's office stated in a news release on Friday that the 14-year-old is charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

The District Attorney's Office for Fresno County is currently reviewing the case. If an attorney is representing the suspect, that information is being ascertained.

Zanoni did not go into detail about the weapons used in the attack or how the victims passed away. He said that the motive behind the killings has not been established by the authorities.

"The tragedy of the situation is of such a high magnitude because two children have lost their mother and father due to the actions by their other sibling," the sheriff stated.

He further added, "Those children will grow up without a mother and a father because of this incident."
