RINGWOOD, NEW JERSEY: A New Jersey hiker, who disappeared over the weekend, has been found after being spotted on a homeowner's Ring camera, authorities said. In a Facebook post, the Ringewood Police Department said that the woman went out for a hike in Ringwood State Park near Skylands Manor on Sunday, March 3.

According to the Asbury Park Press, CBS-affiliate WCBS-TV and News 12 Hudson Valley, the woman has been identified as 63-year-old Carol Heimbach. When Heimbach, who frequently hikes the state park and is even a volunteer there, was unavailable by 10 pm local time, her family called police.

When was Carol Heimbach seen on Ring camera?

According to WCBS-TV, at least 10 teams searched the area overnight into Monday morning, March 4. The Ringwood Police Department shared her photo on Facebook. Eventually, Heimbach was seen on a Ring camera on Monday, March 4, News 12 Hudson Valley, WCBS-TV and ABC-affiliate WABC-TV reported.

A homeowner in Sloatsburg, which is about five miles from the state park, was reviewing his Ring doorbell camera footage when he spotted Heimbach, as per News 12 Hudson Valley. New Jersey State Park Police Chief George Fedorczyk credited the homeowner, who then contacted authorities, WCBS-TV reported.

"This individual obviously took the time, recognized, was aware of the situation and appropriately called the authorities to where we can get this to a positive resolution," he told the station.

It's unclear what led the woman to go missing, but WCBS-TV reported that investigators believe she left her phone in her car when she began her hike.
