ORLANDO, FLORIDA: George and Cindy Anthony, parents of Florida woman Casey Anthony, underwent a polygraph examination for a two-hour special titled 'Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test.'

The examination was administered by George Olivo, a retired FBI Special Agent with over 20 years of experience in conducting polygraph tests, having completed thousands of them.

Initially implicated in the death of their 2-year-old granddaughter Caylee, Casey, the toddler's mother, was later acquitted of the charges in 2011.

What did George Olivo say amid lie detector test?

Airing on A&E and Lifetime, the upcoming special will explore the 2008 death of George and Cindy Anthony's granddaughter, Caylee Anthony.

Special Agent Olivo, who has not previewed the special ahead of its January 4 broadcast, will witness George and Cindy reacting to each other's responses and the results of the lie detector tests.

Olivo mentioned, "When I met them, they were soon separated, and I tested George first," Olivo told Fox News Digital. "Nothing really stood out to me. They seem like, on the surface, just a regular couple that have been together for a very long time."

He further remarked, "If they claim that they didn’t do anything, it’s like the old saying goes, you’re darned if you do and you’re darned if you don’t.

If you say nothing, those same critics will say, "Well, there you go. They didn’t say anything, so they must be guilty."

And if they speak up and say, "I’d like to respond to that publicly the same way [my daughter] made her accusations publicly,’ then critics will say, ‘They’re trying to capitalize on it.’"

Polygraph expert Olivo suggests that a polygraph is "85 to 90 per cent "accurate when administered correctly.

The upcoming special is anticipated to include pointed questions about whether George molested Casey and if he had any involvement in Caylee's death or the concealment of her body.

Olivo noted that 19 states admit polygraph results in court through stipulation, where both parties agree on the admission of results and the test conductor.

While polygraph tests may be used in pretrial and post-trial negotiations, the Supreme Court has ruled against presenting them to a jury.

Olivo expressed optimism that, irrespective of the results, a sense of closure may emerge.

"In the end, this is still a family," he said. "… But some wounds are just too deep. I hope they can pick up the pieces somehow. There are still a lot of scattered pieces on the ground," he added.

In 2008, Casey was arrested in connection with the disappearance of her daughter, Caylee. Although the child was purportedly last seen on June 16, 2008, it wasn't until July 15 that Casey's mother reported her missing.

Casey initially told the police that Caylee had vanished with a babysitter. Over nearly six months, volunteers conducted a nationwide search for the toddler, pursuing hundreds of leads.

On December 11, skeletal remains were discovered by a utility employee in a wooded area near Casey's Florida home, later identified as Caylee's.

Experts testified that air samples indicated the presence of decaying human remains in Casey's trunk.

Charged with murder, Casey's 2011 trial became a media spectacle. Although prosecutors demonstrated Casey's dishonesty, they struggled to convince the jury of much else.

The government couldn't establish the cause of Caylee's death, and Casey's DNA was not found on the duct tape allegedly used in her suffocation.
