WASHINGTON, DC: Sports radio icon Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo, who typically avoids political commentary, couldn't contain his feelings during a heated podcast appearance, where he strongly criticized former President Donald Trump’s harsh remarks about Joe Biden and urged for "a little grace."

Speaking on the 'Sports Illustrated Media Podcast' with Jimmy Traina, Russo was quick to defend Biden against the GOP presidential nominee's relentless mockery, particularly after the president announced his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

Chris Russo demands Donald Trump stop the attacks against Joe Biden

"What is he doing?" Chris Russo demanded, firing off at Donald Trump. "Biden announces he’s gonna leave, drop out. And he kills him? Say what you want about him, but [Biden] did give his freakin’ life to the United States from 1972-on. He also had tragedy in his life with his wife and child who died in that car accident… I think his heart, whether you like his policy or not, is generally speaking in the right place. I think he cares."

The sports-centered host was visibly frustrated, tearing into Trump’s refusal to let Biden step away with dignity.

Russo expressed disbelief, saying, “The fact that [Trump] can’t let him exit quietly and give him his due is astonishing.”

He also praised Biden's decency, recalling how, after the twice-impeached former president was shot, Biden reached out by calling him by his first name and saying, "I’m gonna call him," demonstrating his ability to rise above the partisan divide.

"Even Biden has at times to be above the fray. It really bothered me. Don, can you let the man for 24 hours, six months before the election go out with a little grace? And not pound him… that really bothered me," Russo added.

Donald Trump labels Joe Biden as 'the worst president' post-withdrawal

Chris Russo’s impassioned defense came after Donald Trump doubled down on his criticism of Joe Biden.

Just after the president announced his withdrawal on July 21, the business mogul called him "the worst president in the history of our country," during an interview with Fox News Digital’s Brooke Singman, and questioned, "Who is going to be running the country for the next five months?"

Despite a fleeting moment of civility where Trump acknowledged Biden’s “right to run” for reelection, he soon reverted to criticism, accusing the Democratic Party of undermining that opportunity.

“I’m not a fan of his, as you’ve probably noticed,” Trump said. “He had a rough debate, but that doesn’t mean you just take it away like that.”

However, Trump’s tirade didn’t stop there as he went after Biden’s replacement, Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her as the "least admired, least respected, and worst vice president in the history of our country."

Social media reacts after Chris Russo criticizes Donald Trump

In response to Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo's fiery defense of Joe Biden, netizens lit up with heated reactions.

"As opposed to Biden indicting Trump and trying to put him in jail for 100 years," said a user.

"lol How about the treatment of Donald Trump from day 1 The mainstream media loved him the entertainment and movie industry loved him as did the music industry love him right up to the point when he declared his run for President! Ever since then it’s been a War against him culminating in an assassination attempt. The 4 years Trump was in office the World was safer and more prosperous but let’s not talk about that!" added another. [sic]

"Ha. Radio waves can cause brain damage," read a tweet.

"But he’s not bothered one bit by Biden consistently calling him a threat to democracy or using his DOJ to prosecute him," penned a user.

"Political attacks is not ok anymore? It's a lot like saying I work for the government and I'm here to help. Can't say anything bad about government anymore? Is there anything about the Constitution that the Democrats like?" tweeted a user. [sic]
