MARYLAND, UNITED STATES: Christopher Gamble, a father from Maryland, was arrested for shooting his 2-year-old daughter in the bedroom of their Baltimore home.

Upon police's arrival at the crime scene, they began questioning Christopher to ascertain the details of what occurred during the gunshot. Subsequently, Christopher was charged with his child's murder. Additionally, in his statement to the police, he admitted to the illegal purchase of the gun.

'I have to die. … It was my fault'

Police responded around 7.10 pm on Sunday evening, December 17, following a report that a young child, Charlee Gamble, had sustained gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital.

The gunshot is believed to have been fired by Christopher Gamble, who is the father of child. Notably, the girl had been shot at Gamble’s residence in the 6000 block of Park Heights Avenue in the Glen neighborhood.

“Mr. Gamble was in the master bedroom with his daughter Charlee. It [was] at this time that Charlee was shot one time between her eyes,” police said.

Christopher transported his daughter, who was less than a month away from her third birthday, to Sinai Hospital. There, he handed her over to medical staff and soon suspiciously moved out of the hospital.

Upon his return, he was accompanied by the mother of his child and was wearing different clothing.

A witness told investigators that during that car ride, the father stated, “I have to die. … It was my fault."

Doctors at Sinai initially expressed doubt whether the child would survive through the night. They declared Charlee dead soon after 8 pm as per Law&Crime.

Subsequently, police conducted a search for evidence at Christopher's home, where no firearms were discovered. No guns or blood evidence were found in Gamble's vehicle also.

According to the charging documents, Christopher informed homicide detectives that he had left a gun, which he had acquired off the street, on the TV stand in his bedroom where Charlee was present before she sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Throughout the interviews, during which Gamble provided conflicting accounts of the night's events, he initially suggested that his daughter shot herself but later admitted to being in the bedroom with her when the incident occurred.

According to BaltimorSun, investigators concluded that Christopher Gamble was responsible for the fatal shooting of the young girl.

Gamble faces a total of 12 charges, including various firearms offenses, child abuse, first and second-degree murder, assault, and evidence tampering. Subsequently, a court commissioner ordered him to be held without bail.

Following the tragic death of the young child, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott called for an investigation into the adults around the child, emphasizing that there is no conceivable reason for a toddler to die from a gunshot in the presence of people who supposedly cared for her.

Details about Christopher's attorney remain unclear, and additional information will be provided along with appropriate evidence.
