Clint Edward Griffith: California man accused of killing his GF and her daughter hospitalised after shooting himself
APPLE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA: A California man reportedly killed his girlfriend and shot her teenage daughter who is now fighting for her life before he turned the gun on himself and shooting in the head while carjacking a vehicle days later, police say as per KTLA.
On January 30, authorities responded to an Apple Valley, California home regarding a shooting and found Sommer Kelly, 40, with multiple gunshot wounds, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. She was declared dead at the scene.

Clint Edward Griffith fled the crime scene
Police also found the woman’s 18-year-old daughter with multiple gunshot wounds and transported her to a hospital. During the investigation authorities identified Clint Edward Griffith, 51, as the suspect and alleged he had fled the scene, the statement said. They issued an arrest warrant for him.
Griffith was Kelly's boyfriend, a spokesperson from the sheriff's department said, adding that authorities have "overwhelming evidence" that he is the suspect.

On February 4, the sheriff’s office said in an updated statement that they learned Griffith was a suspect in a carjacking incident in Barstow, California, during which he shot himself in the head. He remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
Why did Sommer Kelly's daughter get shot?
In a GoFundMe set up for the victims, Brandy Tarin, who identified herself as Kelly's sister, said Kelly's teenage daughter was allegedly shot three times while “trying to interfere and help her mom.” She said three of Kelly's four children were in the house and witnessed the shooting.
“These poor babies did not deserve this! My beautiful sister did NOT deserve this!! Our family is forever broken,” Tarin wrote in the fundraiser. Police are expected to take Griffith into custody once he is released from the hospital, the sheriff's department tells the outlet, adding that he is currently under surveillance by deputies.

In a Hillsborough County courtroom on Wednesday, Jay Leonard Rodriguez, 49, was found guilty on two counts of second-degree murder for the beating death of 25-year-old Jennifer Barreras and the death of her infant as a consequence of the attack.
Rodriguez received two life sentences on January 25. Records show that Berreras and her child died shortly after giving birth prematurely. As reported by Tampa Fox affiliate WTVT, Jessica Gonzalez, the friend of the victim, testified that she witnessed Rodriguez repeatedly punch Barreras and pin her against a bedroom wall.
