LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Colin Farrell reflected on his sobriety journey and shared how his son James fueled it.

Talking with Daily Mail, the ‘Total Recall’ star detailed his process, “James was 2 when I got sober,” Farrell began.

“Part of the fuel that I used to get off alcohol and drugs and all that stuff was knowing he had health issues. All children need their parents — or a parent or grandparent or somebody — to care for them,” he explained.

The actor told the outlet about his elder son who has Angelman Syndrome. “One of the things James taught me was to access within myself a desire to live, even if it was initially more about me thinking I wanted to live to be around for him,” Colin Farrell continued.

Farrell went to rehab in 2018, after quitting drinking in 2005, “He’s been sober 12 years and wanted to do this to make sure he stays that way. He’s taking some me-time and doing a tune-up and a reset. This was all his idea,” People reported then.

The Internet admired Colin Farrell's approach to his son James with Angelman Syndrome, and his commitment to offer his best self by quitting drugs and alcohol.

One person reflected online, "It's wonderful he turned his life around."

Another agreed, "Of course he is perfect, your children are everything."

"Being a good parent should be everyone’s goal in life. That is how we fix the world," an individual expressed.

Someone else penned, "I have come to realize that everyone, no matter how big or small or the defects , matters in this world. They all play a part in life to teach us things, everyone has a purpose & meaning."

However a few reacted critically, with one saying, "He makes a very valid point. He's fairly well off financially, he's a charming celebrity...and he and his child's mother are having a difficult time finding good, consistent care for their adult child. Imagine what few options the 'average' people have."
