NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: American actress and singer Jasmine Guy, a four-time recipient of the NAACP Image Award, is offering a new tale about Tupac Shakur.

During an interview on the daytime talk show 'Sherri' on Thursday, January 25, the singer and actress disclosed that she allowed the late rapper to stay with her in 1994 when he needed a safe place in New York after being shot.

Following his shooting, Shakur underwent surgery at Metropolitan Hospital Center and was discharged to recover at an undisclosed location, which happened to be Guy's house, per The Messenger.

Jasmine Guy reveals she sheltered Tupac Shakur after he got shot

On Sherri Shepherd's talk show, Jasmine Guy revealed that she had to conceal the rapper's presence in her house following his shooting on November 30, 1994, at the Quad Recording Studios lobby in Times Square, New York.

Though the late rapper always suspected it was a set-up, it was assumed to be a robbery at gunpoint.

Shepherd had already met Shakur when he was featured in 'A Different World.' Guy, 61, told host Sherri Shepherd about Shakur, "Well, the development was after the shooting in New York."

"First of all, I was hanging out with Tupac because he was good friends with Jada [Pinkett Smith]. We were always hanging out after the show."

Guy and Pinkett Smith attempted to see Shakur at the hospital following his shooting but he had already left by the time they arrived.

"He didn't feel safe there. He did just get shot," Guy recalled. "He felt like a sitting duck. And because I had a low profile and they didn't know we were friends... It kinda felt like 'The Diary of Anne Frank' because I couldn't tell anybody that he was there."

Guy stated that for several weeks after the shooting, Shakur remained in her house with his family, receiving care from his mother, a private physician, and covert visits from close relatives and friends.

Guy remembered, "Everyone was in that one room." She also told Shakur's family, "'If we're gonna keep it peaceful, everyone has to leave by 10 pm.' And that lasted about two days."

"'You don't understand. We're the Shakurs. We're gonna show you how to have a family life,'" his family answered. "It was fun, other than the stress of it."

Guy and Shakur became great friends during the latter's 1993 guest appearance on the sitcom 'A Different World.' She made an appearance in Shakur's 1995 music video for 'Temptations' after aiding in his wound healing.

Later, in February 2004, Guy penned the biography of his mother, 'Afeni Shakur: Evolution of a Revolutionary.'

Tupac Shakur's close friends in industry

Throughout his career, legendary rapper Tupac Shakur created a lot of headlines, many of which were because of his complex relationships with other musicians and other rappers.

However, Shakur had a large network of close friends in the entertainment business who continued to speak highly of him. Friends of the late artist often talk of his kindness and commitment to everyone he loved.

Shakur and Jada had a tight bond when they initially met as students at the Baltimore School for the Arts. They only shared a single kiss, which Jada revealed to Howard Stern with a quip that "it had to be the most disgusting kiss for [them] both."

Jada's husband Will Smith was envious of the closeness between her and Shakur. He expressed in his memoir that he "wanted Jada to look at [him] like [she looked at Tupac]," per The Things.

Following their meeting at the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards, Madonna and Shakur allegedly dated for two years. Shakur wrote to Madonna from prison to end their romance. He voiced concerns about being a Black rapper in an interracial relationship.

Shakur had tight relationships with other stars from 'A Different World' besides Jada. Shakur's recovery after his 1994 shooting was greatly aided by Jasmine Guy.

She paid him a visit at the hospital and quickly grew close to his mother. Jasmine responded, "I wasn't a member of the family, but I was always around [...] I really wanted to support them."
