TAMPA, FLORIDA: Dame Dash gave his reasons for being reluctant to evacuate "soft" Hurricane Milton, which has since claimed the lives of at least 17 people and left millions without electricity.

Hurricane Milton brought the fury of the ocean ashore with several feet of storm surge, three months' worth of rain in three hours to some areas, and a deadly tornado outbreak as it churned from west to east.

Milton has claimed at least 17 more lives after Helene's powerful winds, torrential rains, and a wall of water claimed 20 lives in the state as it moved from south to north, reported CNN.

The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder had to deal with an option when Hurricane Milton made its way toward the western coast of Florida — would he and his family attempt to brave the storm or would they take the chance of appearing "soft" and flee? Fortunately, they went with the latter option.

Taking to an Instagram live video, Dash explained, "We were like, ‘Alright, we’re gonna try to grind it out and stay. Because none of our neighbors were leaving and the people that we knew that are from Florida — like every day all day [weren’t leaving]."

"It kinda seemed like we were soft if we were leaving. Pause," he said as he rode on his private bus, per The Complex.

Dash clarified that calamities and natural disasters are nothing new to him and his family. They experienced many hurricanes and a wildfire in 2023 close to their ranch in Wyoming.

He mentioned that as the reason he and his family, which includes four dogs and a newborn, finally decided to evacuate in order to protect themselves

Dash continued, "I’m like, ‘Damn, why are we always in the mix?’ And, of course, we get here (Florida)… and, of course, we end up right in the thick of things and be challenged. You know, we’d work it out but who wants to be uncomfortable? Plus, with a baby and four dogs..."

Dash's fiancee Raquel Horn and those in his immediate vicinity reportedly started "stressing a little" so they decided to take the advice, packed their things, and headed off.

He added, "We were like, ‘Yo, let’s just get up outta here.’ As long as we can get gas, we got a place to go."

"If you live in a place where natural disasters happen — like hurricanes, like once a year — you gotta have a hurricane house on deck to go to. So we developed that and we figured it out so we know where we’re going amongst family and all that," he continued.

"If people warn you… I’m out. I don’t care. We gotta go. I got a family. Even this evacuation is still fun when you’re with the people you love, as long as they’re not panicking.. But I’m sick of this s**t, I ain’t gonna hold you," Dash added.

Dame Dash slammed for being hesitant to brave Hurricane Milton

Although many social media users expressed their relief that Dame Dash and his family evacuated the area without a hitch, some also attacked the Roc-A-Fella Records founder in the comments section of an Instagram post sharing his video for feeling compelled to stay.

One user commented, "A grown a** man worried about strangers would think if he evacuated his family from a Hurricane…SMH. I thought he was a Boss."

"Saying pause at 60 sum years old during a killer hurricane is the sickest 💩 I seen ever in life while keeping your teeth in your damn mouth," another user said.

One person added, "Dumbest ish I’ve heard all week," while another remarked, "Mane what so you think it’s soft to make sure you and your family is safe make this makes sense."

One individual commented, "He going senile saying pause all day I think he think that word makes he same like the cool grandpa."

"You know what's soft? Caring enough a about what others think, that you will even *consider* putting your family's safety at risk. Soft," added another.
