Danny Masterson’s accusers move to add alleged victim Tricia Vessey's name in lawsuit against actor
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Danny Masterson’s accusers have reportedly pled with the Los Angeles Superior Court to include the name of one more victim in the civil lawsuit they have filed against the rape-convicted actor and Scientology.
Currently, the suit includes the names of four women but as per the new request, the women want to add Tricia Vessey's name in it as well, RadarOnline.com reported.
Danny Masterson allegedly raped Tricia Vessey twice
The ‘Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai’ actress, who was reportedly raped twice, gave testimony against Masterson in the criminal trial that eventually proved him to be guilty.
The 51-year-old’s inclusion in the 2019 suit will reportedly make the women’s case against the 47-year-old actor stronger.
The victims have also accused Scientology of hiding Masterson’s crimes as well as starting a harassment campaign against them.
Their accusations “involve Masterson’s sexual assaults, Plaintiffs’ reporting those assaults to Defendants, and Defendants’ actively endeavoring to prevent Plaintiffs from reporting those assaults to the civil authorities.”
The new plea filed on December 27 read, “To include as a new plaintiff Tricia Vessey, who was victimized by Defendant Masterson and then, when she was identified as an additional victim and testified in Masterson’s criminal trial, was subjected to a campaign of harassment by Defendants like each Plaintiff in the FAC [First Amended Complaint].”
It also stated, “It is in the interests of justice to allow Plaintiffs to bring additional claims arising from Defendants’ course of conduct as alleged in the FAC, many of which were unavailable to Plaintiffs at the time it was filed.”
‘An amendment at this juncture will not prejudice Defendants’
The accusers’ lawyer John J. Kucera mentioned Vessey’s name can be included under the latest passed law California Sexual Abuse and Cover-up Accountability Act which banished the statute of limitation.
Kucer added, “An amendment at this juncture will not prejudice Defendants.”
‘This has been a long and arduous road for the victims of Mr. Masterson’
Meanwhile, after being sentenced to three decades in prison, Masterson was taken to the North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, on December 27, PEOPLE reported.
Following the sentencing in September, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said, "Justice was finally served."
He continued, “This has been a long and arduous road for the victims of Mr. Masterson. They not only survived his abuse, they also survived a system that is often not kind to victims.”
“I applaud their courage for coming forward and participating in this process. My hope is that this sentence will somehow bring them peace and that their bravery will be an example to others,” Gascón added.
