Dave Williams ripped as Colorado GOP calls LGBTQ+ people 'groomers' in email, pushes to burn Pride flags
WASHINGTON, DC: The Colorado Republican Party called for the burning of Pride flags and labeled LGBTQ+ individuals as 'godless groomers' to kick off Pride month, according to HuffPost.
Early on Monday, June 3, the party distributed a fundraising email that contained several false allegations that unjustly compare LGBTQ+ individuals to predators.
Dave Williams calls LGBTQ+ people 'godless groomers'
The email, which was signed by state GOP chair and congressional candidate Dave Williams, read, "The month of June has arrived and, once again, the godless groomers in our society want to attack what is decent, holy, and righteous so they can ultimately harm our children."
The email also referred to LGBTQ+ individuals as 'creeps' and 'reprobates', and it contained a link to a sermon by evangelical pastor Mark Driscoll, who last year also proclaimed a 'war on the LGBT agenda'. The sermon's thumbnail stated 'God Hates Flags'.
The party promised in the message's conclusion that it will take 'every opportunity' to collaborate with politicians to outlaw the 'barbaric' practice of giving transgender kids care that is gender-affirming.
The Colorado GOP has been criticizing Pride Month on X for some time now, in addition to the email that was sent on Monday. Following the explosive fundraising email, originally revealed by 9News reporter Kyle Clark, the official Colorado Republican Party account shared a GIF of flames along with the caption, 'Burn all the #Pride flags this June'. The group then reposted several tweets criticizing Pride Month, some of which were from the hateful anti-LGBTQ+ account LibsOfTikTok.
