NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: In Tennessee, a mother accidentally discharged her pistol while searching her purse for her keys, resulting in the tragic death of her teenage daughter. The mother is now seeking donations to cover the funeral expenses for the girl.

Nashville police reported that 13-year-old Dearria Radley passed away from a single gunshot wound shortly before 10 pm on Saturday, March 24, after being transported to the pediatric emergency room at Vanderbilt.

According to authorities, Dearria's mother informed detectives that her unholstered .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol was stored in her purse along with other items.

De'Ann Radley requested $15,000 for burial costs

The teen's mother informed authorities that the gun discharged accidentally while she was searching inside her bag for her keys.

In a GoFundMe page, the mother identified herself as De'Ann Radley and requested $15,000 to help with burial costs, as reported by the New York Post.

As of Monday afternoon, March 25th, just over $300 had been collected to cover the teen's funeral expenses.

The statement on GoFundMe read, "Hi my name is De’Ann I’m the mother of Dearria, and I need help for her funeral. My 13-year-old was accidentally shot and killed, I don't have insurance to bury her. If anyone can help me during these painful times. I would gladly appreciate your contribution god bless you."

After the shooting, Radley expressed her grief multiple times on Facebook, emphasizing her heartbreak by writing in all caps, "HUG YOUR BABIES TIGHT BC I LOST MINE, WORDS CAN’T DESCRIBE THIS PAIN."

“I WOULDN’T WISH THIS PAIN ON ANYONE MY HEART IS IN A MILLION PIECES,” the grieving mother wrote, later adding, “DEARRIA I NEED YOU I CAN’T DO THIS. BUG I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH.”



 

Mother mourns the loss of her baby

Subsequently, De'Ann Radley posted a video of herself sobbing, stating, "My baby is gone," and expressing that she "wouldn't wish this for anybody."

“Thirteen years. Thirteen years. We’ve been through everything together and my baby is gone,” she emotionally exclaims in the clip. “I can’t do it. I can’t do it, man. My baby, my baby,” she said while crying.



 

No charges have been filed as of now. The Youth Services Division of the police department is currently investigating the shooting.
