WASHINGTON, DC: The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is pulling no punches in its latest ad campaign targeting former president Donald Trump.

Set to launch on Tuesday, July 2, the campaign labels Trump as a “fraud,” “liar,” “denier,” and “a threat to our democracy.” This aggressive move comes as the DNC aims to sway voters in key battleground states.

The ads will feature prominently on the homepages of the Philadelphia Enquirer, the Arizona Republic, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution websites, as per The Hill.

The campaign zeroes in on Trump’s responses during last week’s presidential debate, where he evaded questions about whether he would accept the 2024 election results.

Trump’s ambiguous stance, stating he would accept the results “if it’s a fair and legal and good election absolutely,” is highlighted as a focal point of concern.

“In the years since he encouraged a violent mob to storm our Capitol in an attempt to overturn the will of American voters, he has only become more unhinged in his plot for revenge and retribution,” DNC communications director Rosemary Boeglin said.

“This week, the DNC is reminding voters in critical battleground states that the only thing that stands between Donald Trump and our democracy is Joe Biden.”

The timing of the ad campaign is notable, coming just one day after the Supreme Court's ruling that presidents have absolute immunity for actions within their core responsibilities and are presumptively immune from all other official acts. This decision is seen as a significant win for Trump, who is leveraging the presidential immunity defense in his federal election subversion case.

Trump faces charges related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results and his actions leading up to the January 6 Capitol riot.

President Joe Biden criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling on Monday evening, July 1, describing it as setting a “dangerous precedent.”

“For all practical purposes, today’s decision almost certainly means that there are virtually no limits on what a president can do. It’s a fundamentally new principle. It’s a dangerous precedent because the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law, even including the Supreme Court of the United States,” Biden remarked.

Netizens react to DNC's anti-Donald Trump ad campaign

Following the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) launch of an aggressive ad campaign labeling former President Trump as a "fraud" and "threat to democracy," social media erupted with a flurry of reactions.

A social media user tweeted, "SOME GETS REAL NEWSPAPERS."

Another said, "Oh wow. We’ve never heard that “threat to democracy” line before."

A third tweeted, "That’s so original."

"Wow that’ll fix everything," mocked an individual.

"So overdone lol," read a tweet.

"If I had a dollar for every time a democrat said that I'd be able to pay the national debt," penned a user.
