WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump celebrated a significant endorsement on Friday, June 21, as Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien accepted an invitation to speak at the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

This move marks a pivotal gain for Trump, who has been making strides in polling among traditionally Democratic-leaning groups, including union members.

Recent surveys have shown Trump and Joe Biden tied at 47% among union members in key swing states like Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

O’Brien’s involvement, however, comes with its share of controversy, particularly concerning his handling of union affairs, such as a dispute that led to 22,000 job losses within the Teamsters.

Despite this, O’Brien has a friendly relationship with Sen Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leading to the recent interactions with Trump, reported New York Post.

Nevertheless, O’Brien’s subsequent decision not to endorse Biden further complicates political alignments within union leadership. Trump announced O’Brien’s acceptance via Truth Social, emphasizing their prior discussions on worker issues critical to the Teamsters union.

He posted, "Our GREAT convention will unify Americans and demonstrate to the nation’s working families they come first."

“When I am back in the White House, the hardworking Teamsters, and all working Americans, will once again have a country they can afford to live in and be respected around the world. Sean, I look forward to seeing you represent the Teamsters in Milwaukee. Together we can Make America Great Again.”

Trump campaign’s subsequent email highlighted that "President Trump participated in a roundtable discussion with Teamsters President O’Brien, Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman, the union’s executive board, and rank-and-file members in January, which O’Brien described as ‘an in-depth and productive discussion on worker issues most important to the Teamsters Union'."

A user tweeted, "Huge for Trump."

Another said, "Biden united the country - everyone hates his guts."

Third claimed, "Bahahahahahahhahahahahahaha. Yes. Dem heads exploding."

"Ouch, it’s happening!" read a tweet.

"Hell yeah. EVERYONE IS MAGA," added a user.
