Drew Barrymore reveals she once made her ex watch her have drinks with woman he cheated on her with
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Drew Barrymore apparently knew how to take revenge when someone wronged her. The actress recounted an instance when she exacted revenge on an unnamed ex-boyfriend who was unfaithful to her.
On Monday's, January 13, edition of 'The Drew Barrymore Show', the 49-year-old actress-turned-daytime diva, sat down with SZA for a conversation about relationships and ex-partners.
Drew Barrymore devised a revenge plan after discovering her lover was unfaithful
During the show, Drew Barrymore recounted the unusual approach she decided to take to exact revenge on an unidentified ex-boyfriend after discovering he was having an affair.
The '50 First Dates' star claimed that after discovering the affair, she wasted no time wallowing. Rather, she acted quickly and made her cheating ex-boyfriend pay for his actions.
Barrymore told the audience and her guest, SZA, about the decades-old tale and described loading his car with everything he had that was in her house, then driving his car down his driveway.
"I found out my ex-boyfriend was cheating on me. This was decades ago. I took all of his stuff in my house and I put it all in his car and then I rolled his car down his driveway and left it there and just walked away," she explained.
But it wasn't just that! Barrymore revealed that she then forced the woman he was having an affair with to join him for drinks while she sat with them, per Entertainment Weekly.
"Then I made the girl he was cheating on me with meet me for drinks with him sitting there," she added.
The 'Charlie's Angels' actress continued: "I was like, ‘You’re gonna sit here and you’re gonna listen to the two of us talk! So shut up and listen!’ And then I drove him home and I looked at him and I go, ‘Now get out'."
Barrymore mentioned that they have since fixed their relationship and that he has become a "dear friend" over the years, but she did not specifically name her ex-partner.
In defense of him, she argued, "We were young and stupid! I did dumb things too!"
"Later, I'm like, 'Listen, you know what, we were just kids. I made mistakes too and we're human beings. There was so much I loved about you. Can we be in each other's lives?" Barrymore added.
SZA swiftly defended the younger Drew's behavior, stating, "That wasn't stupid, that was fire. I'm inspired."
Furthermore, SZA was not buying it when Barrymore said that "time heals" all scars and advised maintaining friendships with ex-partners.
She smiled and joked, "No it don’t. Time passes, baby. Time passes," indicating that occasionally harboring resentment is acceptable.
Drew Barrymore revealed she 'vandalized ex-boyfriend’s car' after he cheated on her
However, this is not Drew Barrymore's first act of vengeance. She previously admitted to committing another crime of passion, when she was a teenager and damaged the car of an ex-boyfriend.
Barrymore disclosed in a May 2024 episode of 'The Drew Barrymore Show' that she "vandalized my ex-boyfriend's car" when she was a teenager after he cheated on her as well.
She described the damage to the unidentified boyfriend's car as something she "sprayed-painted."
And he called me the next day and he was like, ‘Somebody hurt my car! My precious car! It wasn’t you was it?’ And I was like, ‘uh-uh’," she remarked.
Detailed the story on a 2018 episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', the 'Santa Clarita Diet' star said: "I spray painted an ex-boyfriend’s car. It was really fun. We blasted Cypress Hill. It was mid-‘90s, late-‘90s. We felt so baller."
Moreover, Barrymore spray-painted unexpected items on her ex's vehicle to maintain her innocence, per Entertainment Tonight.
"A lot of really horrible things that would not seem like me. It wasn’t like, ‘You screwed me over, you d**k'. It was like, ‘Anarchy’ and ‘Black Flag'," she said.
Barrymore went on to claim, "It was really gratifying and now he knows it’s me…," adding that she never told her ex about her act of defiance.
"I went with my girlfriend Justine, and we were young and we felt so cool driving up the Canyon in my Ford Bronco, blasting Cypress Hill. It was such a moment. It was worth the phone call I might get sometime soon," she recalled.
