Internet melts as 'DWTS' alum Mark Ballas and wife BC Jean celebrate arrival of rainbow baby

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mark Ballas, the 37-year-old retired 'Dancing with the Stars' professional dancer, and his wife BC Jean, have joyfully welcomed their first child.

The couple was over the moon while sharing the news of the arrival of their rainbow baby with their fans and followers on Instagram on Tuesday, December 5. Mark expressed his gratitude and love for his wife and their new bundle of joy.

He added the name of their child, Banksi Wylde Ballas, and the date November 5, 2023, as he captioned the post, “Welcome to Earth my son.”

In the image, Ballas is seen holding his wife’s hand, while little Banksi grasps Jean’s thumb.

Jean also shared the same photograph with the caption, “Banksi Wylde Ballas. Joined us earthside 11•5•23. Happy one month sweet boy. You are so loved."

How did Mark and Jean first meet?

The pair met "at a singer-songwriter night at a mutual friend's house," Jean revealed to Riff Magazine. "It was kind of like a fun party night where singers and musicians would get up and perform."

Following the event, the two exchanged phone numbers and began dating in 2012. The couple later announced their engagement in January 2016 and got married in November of the same year.

In their single ‘Rainbow,’ Ballas and Jean, who perform as Alexander Jean, reflected on a pregnancy loss they suffered in 2022.

The lyrical video features photos of Jean, 36, wearing an oversized coat and showing off her baby bump.

"We lost a baby last year," they wrote in their social media post announcing the musical track.

They continued, "Just when we thought we were ready to tell our friends and family, we received the heavy news that our little one wasn't going to make it. We've both been through tough times in our lives, but this was a different kind of sadness."

The couple dedicated ‘Rainbow’ to "anyone who has experienced loss in any form," hoping that it brings some peace to whoever listens and reminds them that a rainbow is not far behind.

Couple announces pregnancy

The musical duo shared the news of their budding family on Instagram in June 2023.

"Life Lately," they captioned the reel, which documented their adventures off late from beach days to a Disneyland trip, ending with their biggest project to date.

 

"Lately we've been...making new music, making birthday wishes, went to Disneyland, made more music stuff, turned off our phones and went to the beach, car rides with our best mate, Boba tea, made more music," the reel read.

"Also," it added, "we've been making.... a tiny human."

Internet melts down over Banksi’s arrival

Mark and Jean’s Instagram posts announcing the birth of their first child have been flooded with comments congratulating the couple. Their followers gushed over the cuteness of their one-month-old baby boy.
