MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Last night, Elle Fanning joined Jimmy Fallon for a chat.

The two discussed her and co-star Nicholas Hoult's quest for Bill Hader at the Emmys, her tribute to Paris Hilton in W Magazine, and her Broadway debut in 'Appropriate' alongside Sarah Paulson.

Additionally, there's cause for celebration as she recently earned a Golden Globe Award nomination for 'Best Actress' in recognition of her performance in 'The Great'.

Elle Fanning calls Sarah Paulson 'brilliantly funny'

In the latter half of their conversation, Elle Fanning and Jimmy Fallon chatted about breaking character during a recent project with Sarah Paulson.

Fanning mentioned that they had a laughing fit, comparing it to previous giggle fests they've had.

Despite the professional setting, it seems like they couldn't contain their laughter, highlighting their friendship and shared sense of humor.

Fanning praised Paulson's comedic brilliance, emphasizing how "brilliantly funny" she is.

She then shared a funny anecdote about not being able to maintain eye contact with Paulson during a serious monologue, as Paulson decided to do an unexpected thumb gesture in the middle of it.

'The Neon Demon' actress then revealed that she indeed lost it after Paulson's gesture, the laughter becoming so infectious that the audience even joined in.

Despite attempting to hide her face, Sarah's efforts were futile, leading to Fanning breaking character and bursting into laughter in the middle of her monologue.

Elle Fanning wants to 'keep some of the play a mystery'

Moving on Fallon acknowledged Elle Fanning's popularity and asked if they could discuss the play she's involved in.

Fallon said, "You're very beloved. People love you".

Elle shared that the play involves three siblings, the Lafayette siblings, returning to their father's home after his passing.

While she "wants to keep some of it a mystery" to encourage people to see it, she mentioned that the play is a mix of humor and family drama, with the discovery of objects leading to chaos amid an estranged family.
