Ellen DeGeneres reveals she ditched fillers and Botox to gracefully 'look older'
Speaking on her final Netflix special, Ellen DeGeneres revealed that she has stopped doing cosmetic operations on her face and is accepting her aging process.
"I used to say that I didn't care what other people thought of me. I realize now, looking back, that I said that at the height of my popularity," she said on the show.
She quipped, "Hey, if I look older than when you saw me last it's because I'm older than when you saw me last. And also I stopped doing Botox and filler," per Daily Mail.
As the audience cheered at this revelation, DeGeneres continued, "I used to do Botox and filler back when I didn't care what other people thought of me, such a waste of time to worry about what other think of us."
"Just a waste of energy. We're just guessing, we don't know. It's impossible to guess what people are thinking," she added.
DeGeneres also revealed that she has been dealing with an array of health issues and that she began therapy as a result of the damaging claims made against her at work, which negatively affected her mental state and resulted in the cancellation of her talk show.
Ellen DeGeneres reveals having long list of medical conditions
The former talk show host also addressed her struggles with several health concerns in her farewell stand-up special. She described how she was diagnosed with "full-on" osteoporosis, a brittle bone disease, following a bone density test.
"I don't even know how I'm standing up right now. I'm like a human sandcastle. I could disintegrate in the shower. It's hard to be honest about aging and seem cool," DeGeneres said.
She added, "I had excruciating pain one day and I thought I tore a ligament or something and I got an MRI and they said, no, it's just arthritis."
"I said, how did I get that? And he said, oh it just happens at your age," the comedian said.
DeGeneres added that she later discovered that she suffers from both attention deficit disorder (ADD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD.
She said, "So, I have ADD, I have OCD – I'm losing my memory. But I think I'm well adjusted because I obsess on things, but I don't have the attention span to stick with it, and I quickly forget what I was obsessing about in the first place."
"So, it takes me all the way around to being well adjusted, I think."
Ellen DeGeneres admits she will be 'done' with show business after her latest Netflix special
Ellen Degeneres declared in July that she would be "done" with show business after her most recent Netflix special. The stand-up comedian talked about leaving the spotlight during the show and made a joke about being canceled because she's "old, gay, and mean."
When asked if she would return to the spotlight again in the future, she categorically denied it. "This is the last time you're going to see me. After my Netflix special, I'm done," she said.
'Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval' is currently streaming on Netflix.
