NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Retired Navy SEAL Mike Sarraille joined 'Fox & Friends' host Griff Jenkins on the morning of Christmas Day to discuss the message shared by Pope Francis from the Vatican City.

In the clip, the Pope was heard saying, "Today, in Bethlehem, amid the deep shadows covering the land, an undying flame has been lighted. Today the world's darkness has been overcome by the light of God which enlightens every man and woman."

Then, he went on to note, "All those little ones whose childhood has been devastated by war, these are the little Jesus' of today."

As per Jenkins, the central theme of the head of the Catholic Church's address happened to be peace. He later added that the Pope, in his message, was "hitting, what he called the 'futile logic of war' in the very land where Jesus himself was born."

Notably, during the message, the Pope said, "Tonight, our hearts are in Bethlehem, where the Prince of Peace is once more rejected by the futile logic of war, by the clash of arms that even today prevents him from finding room in the world," as per CBS News

Sarraille began, "Peace on Earth should be our primary pursuit, especially for those coming behind us. But it's also a multi-faceted concept."

He expressed, "It requires a deep understanding of the harsh realities of the world where power struggles and conflict are just part of human nature. But for those (who) have seen the worst of human conflict, we understand that peace on Earth may not mean the absence of conflict in its entirety."

"Peace is not a passive state that simply happens," elaborated the ex-Navy SEAL, adding, "It happens by us making it so, by actively pursuing it and sacrificing for it, especially when it is uncomfortable or unpopular."

Sarraille hopes that people learn and grow so that future generations may grow up in a "more just, comfortable, and safer world."

Mike Sarraille reflects on the relationship shared by brothers and sisters in arms and God

Sarraille further said, "Military is in the profession of peace trained in the art of war," as he launched into an explanation of the close bonds that the "brothers and sisters in arms" form among themselves and with God while on a battlefield.

He explained, "You will never feel an emotional intimacy of love as deep as that - like that is all you have and you're thankful for that companionship, that homecoming and belonging despite being in a war zone."

He concluded by hoping that the conflict would end quickly, but said that at this moment, the global war on terror has to be pursued and we "have to be vigilant."
