MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY: Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie found himself thrust into the unusual spotlight after revealing that his kids hate it when Donald Trump calls him “fat pig.”

On Monday, December 04, the 61-year-old GOP presidential candidate was in an interview with Fox News host Neil Cavuto, who pointed out how Trump has deftly called Christie a "fat pig" on numerous occasions without really saying it.

In August, the former President mocked Christie’s weight, telling the New Hampshire audience "Don’t call him a fat pig." "Christie, he’s eating right now," Trump said at another point, adding "He can't be bothered."

Addressing Trump’s insult, Christie told Cavuto that his children get particularly mad when former President Donald Trump describes their dad as a “fat pig.”

“My children hate it. "Especially because we're been friends with Donald Trump for over 20 years. My children have socialized with him. He's known me since I became US Attorney in New Jersey in 2002,” he said.

He continued by claiming that Trump's insults about him as well as his reference to Nikki Haley as a "birdbrain" are clues he's "lost it."

In his Monday prediction, Christie said that Trump will be found guilty in his January 6 trial and that he will probably be "unable to vote for himself" if he ends up the Republican Party's nominee, a reality that looks far more likely at the moment than Christie taking the spot as Trump leads him by double digits in polls.

"He's going to be convicted," he stated, adding "Imagine this? If he's our nominee, he won't be able to vote for himself."

Chris Christie blames Donald Trump’s ‘intolerant language’ for rise in antisemitism

Christie’s comments came a few days after he stated that Trump’s “intolerant” language has fuelled the rise in antisemitism and hate across the country.

“When you show intolerance towards everyone, which is what he does, you give permission as a leader for others to have their intolerance come out,” Christie said on CNN’s ‘State of the Union.’

“So intolerance towards anyone encourages intolerance towards everyone. And that’s exactly what’s going on here,” he continued.

Christie, who served as New Jersey’s governor from 2010 to 2018, then accused university professors, administrators, and presidents of being “unwilling to stand up to antisemitism on their campuses.”

“[T]here should be no campus in this country where a Jewish student is afraid to leave their dorm, a Jewish student is afraid to go to their classes, a Jewish student is afraid to go to even have a meal in the dining hall. I mean, that is outrageous and it’s wrong,” he further declared.

Internet reacts to Chris Christie’s remarks

Christie’s remarks have garnered immense social media attention, with users mocking him for thinking of Donald Trump as a friend.

“Being friends with Donald for 20 years should kinda make you expect this by now Chris,” one user said. “Trump doesn't have friends. He has people around him he can use until they are of no use to him. Including his family,” a second user wrote.

“Why were you friends with him? He’s an abusive bully, but that’s not new. Did you tell your kids it was fine as long as it was other people he bullied?” a third user asserted.

“Friends with Trump for 20 years?!?? THAT says everything you need to know about Chris Christy,” a fourth user mocked, while a fifth one said “How were they friends for 20 minutes, let alone for 20 years? And somehow Chris is surprised by this invective?”

“Chris needs to exercise better judgment in choosing his ‘friends,’” one more wrote.
