NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Luigi Mangione, suspect in the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has become popular across social media for his devilish good looks.

While many netizens have swooned over the conventionally handsome 26-year-old, a rumor ran wild over the weekend of December 20 that pop star Britney Spears has not been immune to his charms.

Many claimed on the internet that Spears shared and deleted what was essentially a thirst post about Mangione on Instagram after the latter was extradited to New York and kept at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Did Britney Spears share a post on Luigi Mangione?

According to Hypefresh, there has been no evidence that Britney Spears ever brought up Luigi Mangione in any of her social media posts as of Sunday, December 21.

The rumor stemmed from a post made from the satirical account Drop Pop on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, December 20, where they wrote, "Britney Spears thirsts over Luigi Mangione in a deleted Instagram post."

The post included what appeared to be a screengrab of Spears' Instagram account where an image of Mangione is seen with the singer apparently writing, "OMG. Just because he's a bad boy doesn't mean he can't have my heart."

The tweet has a community note stating, "This account's posts are primarily satire. Britney Spears' Instagram account did not post this."

The claim is further debunked as page of Drop Pop comes with the disclaimer, "Parody account, everything posted on the account is satirical and for humorous purposes, our posts are not meant to be taken seriously."

It is, therefore, safe to say that Spears never thirsted after, or mentioned, Mangione at any time.
