Miley Cyrus admits she doesn't know if she ever wants to have children as her fans 'are kind of her kids'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Miley Cyrus has opened up about her uncertainty regarding motherhood in a recent interview with W Magazine.
The 31-year-old singer and actress expressed that she is still undecided about having children.
Miley Cyrus talks about her uncertainty regarding motherhood
"I’m 31 now, and I still don’t know if I want kids or not," Cyrus admitted. She compared her relationship with her fans to that of a mother and her children, saying, "I feel like my fans kind of are my kids in some way."
Cyrus also referenced her godmother, Dolly Parton, who chose not to have children. “I’ve heard Dolly say that too, because she didn’t have kids,” Cyrus added.
Embracing her current stage in life, Cyrus shared her appreciation for adulthood: “I love being an adult. I have a rule that I don’t look up or don’t look down at anyone.” She further elaborated on her approach to life and self-acceptance, saying, “I just look, which allows me the clarity to see the world for what it really is and people for who they really are. I look at myself almost every day in the mirror and I say, ‘I am a woman.’"
This isn't the first time Cyrus has discussed her views on having children.
In a 2019 interview with Elle, she articulated her reasons for not pursuing motherhood at that time. She challenged societal expectations that prioritize reproduction, stating, "We're expected to keep the planet populated. And when that isn't a part of our plan or our purpose, there is so much judgment and anger."
Miley Cyrus shares heartwarming insights into friendship with Beyonce
In a recent exclusive cover story with W Magazine, Miley Cyrus peeled back the curtain on her close bond with none other than Queen Bey herself, Beyonce. The pop sensation shed light on their "cute" relationship, revealing some touching details about their interactions, particularly their heartfelt conversations about their mothers.
The dynamic duo, who collaborated earlier this year on the track 'II Most Wanted' for Beyonce's latest album 'Cowboy Carter', share a connection that transcends mere music. Cyrus disclosed that their communication extends far beyond professional endeavors, with regular texting sessions revolving around the topic of their beloved moms.
"For me, part of our relationship is the safety between us," Cyrus shared, emphasizing the depth of their connection beyond the spotlight. "Our personas have a relationship, but then we have a relationship. And I love that."
Cyrus reminisced about the first time she and Beyonce shared the stage, recalling the protective aura the seasoned stars exuded towards her, a young performer at the time. "They were these powerful, fully realized, grown women, and I’m pretty sure I had braces on the back of my teeth. They were protective of me," Cyrus fondly recalled.
Their friendship has stood the test of time, with Cyrus tracing its origins back to a shared moment in 2008 during a Stand Up to Cancer performance alongside luminaries like Mary J Blige and Rihanna. "I was sandwiched between Beyonce and Rihanna," Cyrus chuckled.
Detailing the genesis of their collaboration, Cyrus revealed that the song 'II Most Wanted' had been penned over two years prior to Beyonce's outreach, a testament to the serendipity of their artistic synergy. "When Beyonce reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship," Cyrus shared. "Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyonce was a dream come true."
