MIAMI, FLORIDA: The father of a 31-year-old woman, who was killed after the carjacking in Florida, is honoring her while detectives continue to hunt for the perpetrators.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas of Homestead was the victim of a carjacking at a busy intersection in Winter Springs.

'It was a big hit to our family', says the victim's father

In camera footage captured by a witness, a male suspect can be seen approaching the driver's side of the white 2017 Dodge Durango Aguasvivas was driving, donning a mask and a black sweatshirt. The suspect got into the backseat after showing a weapon.

Aguasvivas' car was being followed by a green Acura, which has been identified as the suspect's vehicle, while the Durango made a U-turn and then the video ended.

Although Aguasvivas's body was found inside a burned-out SUV in Osceola County, the Medical Examiner's Office has not yet provided an identification. The suspects remain at large.

"It was a big hit to our family because she always took care of all of us," her father said in Spanish to a local Miami TV station, the Fox News reported. "She never had problems with anyone," he added.

Aguasvivas, a Dominican Republic native turned American citizen, was a mother of a 6-year-old daughter. Her father said she was "always worried about us" and called her "studious, obedient."

The victim's father asks what happened with his daughter

According to Aguasvivas' father, she was well and had several friends. She also lived with her husband. He recalled how he learned about what had occurred to his daughter.

"I found my wife crying, and the neighbor communicated what had happened. And that is when we found out about the situation," he said. He urged anyone with knowledge regarding what happened with his daughter to come forward.

"Cooperate, so that there is clarity with everything because today it was my daughter and tomorrow, it can be the daughter of another citizen," he said.

"God gave us life and in a moment can take it. We are trying to be strong to be able to go through this situation and ask people to pray and ask God so that there is clarity and for God to protect the children of other human beings that remain here on Earth," the grieving father said.

Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma stated at the investigation's most recent press conference on Monday, April 13, that although Aguasvivas' husband has been assisting the authorities, he believes the man is withholding information.

However, Lemma stated that the husband is neither a suspect nor a person of interest.
