HOLY HILL, FLORIDA: An unidentified man from Florida is in critical condition after he walked nearly a mile to his friend's home with a bullet hole in his head. The bullet hole was the aftermath of a fight, during which he was shot, according to the Holly Hill Police Department, Fox News reported.

The man had a friend who lived in the 300 block of Ridgewood Avenue in Daytona Beach, about a mile and a half from the other house, police said.

Who is the accused?

A preliminary investigation revealed that the accused is Christopher Hastings, 33. Hastings and the 44-year-old victim started arguing at a mutual friend’s house in the early hours of Wednesday, January 17, the Holly Hill Police Department said in a news release.

According to police, the two men were fighting over a woman when the fight escalated as Hastings pulled out a gun. Police stated the fight moved outside where Hastings shot the victim in the head.

According to The News Tribune, the victim had a friend who lived nearby, about a mile and a half from the scene of the crime so he walked to his friend's home after being shot in the head and called the police.

The victim in serious condition

The police officers arrived just before 3 am at the home, and the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Within eight minutes of the first contact, officers had successfully identified Hastings and taken him into custody along with the gun they thought was used in the crime.

The victim underwent surgery and is reported as being in serious condition. He is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Hastings was taken into custody, and charged with aggravated violence, attempted second-degree murder, and tampering with evidence. He was then taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
