SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Gerald Rowe, 52, and Angel Anderson, 41, have been convicted for their roles in the torturous murder of 23-year-old George Randall-Saldivar.

The duo's actions included a fatal injection of fentanyl, stuffing the victim into a suitcase, and dumping him in the San Francisco Bay. The jury found Rowe guilty of first-degree murder, involving torture and poison, while Anderson pleaded guilty to the same charges.

The investigation commenced on February 18, 2019, when a resident discovered Randall-Saldivar's body floating in the bay near 1600 The Embarcadero. Anderson later confessed to Sacramento police, leading them to Rowe's apartment on the 1200 block of Market Street, where the homicide took place. Both culprits were subsequently arrested.

Timeline of Gerald Rowe and Angel Anderson's brutal torture-murder of George Randall-Saldivar

Details from Rowe's trial revealed a consensual sexual encounter between the former, Anderson, and Randall-Saldivar turned violent. Anderson confronted the victim with a machete, and together with Rowe, they bound him and hung him from the ceiling with a noose around his neck.

“The victim was tortured for more than 4 hours in this position as he was screamed at, hit, punched, sodomized, assaulted with plyers and a bag placed over his head,” a press release said.

Rowe then left the apartment, returning with fentanyl, injecting Randall-Saldivar with a lethal mixture, and placing him in a suitcase while they awaited his death. After approximately 20 hours, the duo disguised themselves, rolled the suitcase containing the victim about 2 miles, and callously dumped it into the bay near Rincon Park.

What are the charges faced by the duo?

Rowe now faces life imprisonment, while Anderson will be sentenced to a minimum of 25 years to life. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins emphasized the heinous nature of the crime saying, "We feel an overwhelming sense of relief for the victim’s family who have waited far too long to receive justice in this case. Mr Rowe and Ms Anderson’s actions were heinous and a beloved son’s life was lost far too early."

Assistant District Attorney Charly Weissenbach condemned the defendants' acts saying, “While this conviction cannot undo the hours of torture and painful poisoning experienced by the victim, it does condemn the depravity of the defendant’s acts along with the inhumane way he handled the victim’s remains when he threw him into the bay like garbage." The sentencing is scheduled for March 18.
