Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have 'drifted apart' after 40 years together but hope to 'come back stronger'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA:Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been together for 40 years despite not being married, but sources say the pair has 'drifted apart'.
Speaking to Star magazine, an insider spilled of the couple, "They’ve had ups and downs, like any couple. They’ve hit some rough patches," as reported by OK! Magazine.
Russell and Hawn initially crossed paths on the set of 'The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band,' 50 years ago. Years later, their connection blossomed into love while collaborating on another project.
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have 'drifted apart' over the years, say sources
Speaking to the magazine, the insider added that although "over the years, they’ve drifted apart," there aren't any major problems in Russell and Hawn's relationship.
The insider continued, "They’ve become more and more independent where Kurt does his thing, Goldie does hers."
The insider claimed that while the couple still spends time together at red carpet events and family get-togethers, they now appear to be spending more time apart than together.
"When there’s an event to go to and a camera op, they come together," the insider explained. "Other than that, they don’t have much in common these days."
"Kurt and Goldie seem comfortable with the way things are. If they’re fine with the status quo, there’s nothing the kids can do," the insider stated, addressing Wyatt Russell, Kate, and Oliver Hudson.
"They’ve been together 40 years, they’re bound to get tired of each other once in a while," claimed an insider. "The hope is that they come back stronger. They always have."
Speculation that the Hollywood couple was "living separate lives" began to surface in December 2023.
Regarding the relationship, an insider told Closer at the time, "They love each other, there’s no doubting that, but they’re not working on the relationship like they used to."
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have divorce fears
Long standing explanations have been offered by one of the happiest unmarried couples in Hollywood for their unusual relationship status. Russell appeared to have changed his mind, though, in a recent interview.
The 72-year-old admitted to 'Extra' that he had been dating his girlfriend for 40 years. Then, in a shift from the couple's custom of believing that their relationship is genuine even without a document, he acknowledged that marriage had "come up in conversation" more recently "whereas it never used to."
Chris Wallace broached the subject in a recent interview, asking Hawn, "Why aren’t the two of you married?"
"Why should we be?" the mother of three answered. "Isn’t that a better question?"
"When it doesn’t work out, it ends up to be big business. It’s always ugly," remarked the twice-married Hawn.
The Oscar winner went on, "Somebody actually has to take a look and say, ‘How many divorces actually are fun? How many divorces actually don’t cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before? How many divorces have hurt children?’"
"I mean relationships are hard. They’re not always easy. There's all kinds of hurdles we go through. There’s things that we believe in, things we don’t believe in, we agree on," Hawn said.
"So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important, so you can hold on to yourself, and you can actually have that feeling."
"We both have independent finances, we’re both independently well-off," the 'Overboard' actress remarked of their arrangement in 2007. She stated that what kept them strong was their shared passion and determination to be together, as per Closer.
