WASHINGTON, DC: In his address to the NRA on Saturday, May 18, Texas Governor Greg Abbott vowed to keep bussing migrants to New York City and took jibes at Mayor Eric Adams, according to the New York Post.

Abbott said to thunderous applause during his speech at the 2024 National Rifle Association conference in Dallas, "Unless and until Joe Biden does finally begin to enforce immigration laws I will continue to bus those migrants to sanctuary cities across the United States of America. Buncha hypocrites."

He reacted to a woman in the audience who shouted at him to deport the migrants to New York, "Oh, they’re going to New York — trust me."

The governor, a Republican, then made a swipe at Hizzoner saying, "Mayor Adams needs something to do". In retaliation, a representative for Mayor Adams referred to Abbott as 'a coward' for his bussing initiative.

The spokesperson told The New York Post in a statement, "Governor Abbott is a coward who uses human beings as political pawns and has done nothing while murder rates in Texas have skyrocketed under his lack of leadership. If anyone ‘needs something to do,’ it’s him."

Since the spring of 2022, more than 197,000 migrants have received 'compassion and care' from Adams' government, according to his office.

Notably, in January, the Adams administration launched a $700 million lawsuit against 17 busing firms, alleging that since the spring of 2022, they had transported over 33,000 migrants across the nation and deposited them in New York City.

According to the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit, the bus companies made millions of dollars while operating in 'bad faith' to support Gov Abbott's plan to transport the migrants from the US-Mexico border to cities including New York, Chicago, and Denver.

Internet takes jibes at Greg Abbott

Several internet users trolled Greg Abbott as he pledged to keep bussing migrants to NYC. A user wrote on X, "This prick is the problem," while one added, "The ones bussed to Martha's Vineyard didn't get to stay too long. You're a liberal until it's in your own backyard."

A person also stated, "Don't forget to send some to Martha's Vineyard for the summer season," whereas one mentioned, "Human trafficking. That's nice."

A user also stated, "Yea just keep making it easy for them to breach interior of the country by giving them a free bus ride to the biggest hub/port on the east coast."
