NEW HAMPSHIRE, MANCHESTER: According to AP News, Adam Montgomery, 33, who stands accused of killing his 5-year-old daughter Harmony, despised her "to his core" because she resembled her mother.

This revelation came after Adam Montgomery’s friend Rebecca Maines gave her testimony during the recent trial in the murder of Harmony Montgomery, on February 8.

Maines also testified about another incident recounted by Montgomery in 2021, where he admittedly hit his daughter for her behavior toward her younger brother.

It is worth noting that Harmony's body is still missing and the authorities are highly suspicious of her father's involvement.

Rebecca Maines' testimony during Harmony Montgomery murder trial

Rebecca Maines testified that Adam Montgomery told her in the summer of 2021 that he had been trying to see his daughter since 2019.

He said he dropped her off with her mother, Crystal Sorey, because he claimed she was having bathroom accidents on purpose.

Despite being granted legal custody of Harmony before she disappeared, Montgomery told Maines that Harmony’s mother wouldn’t let him visit her.

Adam Montgomery and Sorey were not in a relationship when Harmony was born in 2014.

Harmony Montgomery's life and death

Harmony lived with foster families and on and off with her mother. Sorey lost custody of Harmony in 2018, and Adam Montgomery was awarded custody in February 2019.

Sorey said she last saw Harmony during a FaceTime call around Easter of that year.

Maines, who once considered Montgomery her best friend, also testified about an incident that occurred before he took Harmony to her mother.

Adam Montgomery told Maines that he hit his daughter after seeing her cover her younger brother’s mouth and nose with her hand.

Montgomery’s uncle testified earlier that he saw Harmony with a black eye in 2019 and admitted to having hit her after seeing her touch her brother.

Who is Rebecca Maines?

During questioning, Maines was queried about her criminal history from 2014 to 2019, which comprises theft and fraud convictions.

She has a parole hearing scheduled for April and is also dealing with multiple pending charges. Maines admitted, "I am a criminal. I don't have a problem telling you that."

When asked about missing a court appearance, she mentioned undergoing substance abuse treatment.

Defense attorneys implied that Maines was testifying to improve her legal circumstances. However, she refuted any claims of making or requesting promises regarding her pending charges in exchange for her testimony.
