Harrison Ford reveals 'Indiana Jones' theme music was played in operating room during his colonoscopy
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a light-hearted revelation during a conversation with a media publication, Harrison Ford recounted an amusing experience when the iconic 'Indiana Jones' theme music was played in an operating room.
Harison Ford says 'Indiana Jones' follows him everywhere
The 81-year-old actor said that he was having a colonoscopy when he was serenaded by the 'Indiana Jones' theme song 'The Raiders March.'
He told Variety, “As I often remind John, his music follows me everywhere I go — literally.” Ford humorously remarked, adding, "When I had my last colonoscopy, they were playing it on the operating room speakers."
'The Raiders March', the music for which was composed by legendary John Williams and premiered in 1981, was featured on the soundtracks of all five 'Indiana Jones' films, according to Fox.
John Williams became the oldest Oscars nominee in history
John Williams, who is 92 years old, became the oldest Oscar nominee in history this year after he received his 54th nod for scoring 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.'
The iconic composer has scored in five 'Indian Jones' movies including 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' 1984's 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,' 1989's 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,' 2008's 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' and 2023's 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.'
Jones is the composer of the scores for 'Jaws,' 'ET The Extraterrestrial,' 'Schindler's List,' 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' 'Jurassic Park,' 'Saving Private Ryan,' and nine of the 'Star Wars' movies.
Williams has often worked with Steven Spielberg, the director of the first four 'Indiana Jones' films, and George Lucas, the creator of the franchise.
Harrison Ford praises John Williams as a gracious guy
Ford, while showering praises on Williams, told the publication, he is "a gracious, gracious guy."
"It’s a delight to see him work with the orchestra — just the pleasure of being able to sit in a room and process the remarkable attention that each beat of the music gets," Ford said.
He added, "And their respect for him and his respect for them is just so much fun to watch."
During a 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Williams explained why he decided to commit to the project. "Very frankly," Williams said, adding "I thought to myself: Well, I really don’t want somebody else to do that. It was like when I was doing ‘Star Wars,’ you know. I thought: If I can possibly do it, I should try to do it."
He told Variety, “If I could be remembered as someone who did his job well and remembered as a good solid musician, I would rest very happily."
