NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' on December 6, Hasan Minhaj recently shared the importance of having a therapist who understands their client's cultural background.

During the conversation, he also humorously opened up about his fear of artificial intelligence and recounted being part of a ridiculous group chat on the show.

During his conversation with Jimmy Fallon, Minhaj shared his apprehensions about the increasing role of artificial intelligence in various fields.

He humorously mused over the acronym 'AI', jokingly suggesting it could stand for 'Asians and Indians' given their prominent roles in technology and science.

Continuing the playful tone, Minhaj then drew a comparison between the way people interact with AI tools and how Asian students were often treated in high school, highlighting a tongue-in-cheek parallel.

The discussion took an unexpected turn when Fallon shifted the topic to therapy, prompting a surprised reaction from Minhaj about the abrupt change in conversation.

Hasan Minhaj shared his experience with therapy, humorously referring to it as a 'cult'.

He continued, "Yeah, it is a cult. It’s a cult. No. No, no, no, it’s a cult. Let me just say this: I’ve had a little bit too much of it."

He reflected on how therapy encourages individuals to change, noting that some friends use therapy-speak as a means to sidestep accountability.

The comedian also emphasized the importance of having a therapist who understands their clients' cultural background, regardless of ethnicity.

He said, "You got to have a therapist that understands you culturally, no matter what your culture is, right?"

He humorously extends this idea to include White girls, suggesting they deserve a therapist who recognizes 'Taylor Swift as their Martin Luther King Jr'. Minhaj playfully envisioned therapists adapting to diverse cultural references.

Minhaj shared a personal anecdote about a therapist named Janet, humorously linking the experience to watching 'Game of Thrones' with your dad, but starting at season seven. This comparison highlighted the disconnect when a therapist lacks cultural context to a client's narrative.

Near the show's end, he playfully described how individuals in therapy might adeptly deflect conversations, saying, "I hear you, I receive you, but I'm working on me right now," and compared this type of the way Neo evaded accountability in 'The Matrix'.
