PINELLA COUNTY, FLORIDA: While watching a dog on Saturday, April 20 night, A Florida teenage boy opened fire, killing a 14-year-old girl before killing himself in a tragic murder-suicide.
Hector Pfeiffer, 17, invited three other teenagers—two girls and an 18-year-old man—to stay at 26-year-old, Derek Pobuta's house, where he was watching the dog while the owner was away, according to the statement by Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Teens went on while alcohol and drugs binge before tragic shooting
The teens came over to Pobuta's home and “consumed alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine throughout the day.” Pfeiffer allegedly met the two girls about a month prior on a social media app, according to deputies.
The 18-year-old and he were already good friends. Pfeiffer took Pobuta's gun away during the day, and soon the four teenagers “started playing with the firearm and taking photos with it," Crime Online reports.
The 18-year-old was upset about "a consensual sexual encounter Pfeiffer had," which eventually led to an argument between the drug- and alcohol-obsessed teenagers.
According to investigators, Pfeiffer approached Sayuri Jade Ruiz, 14, who was conversing with the other girl. He later shot Ruiz in the head, then shot himself in the head. Just before nine o'clock at night, deputies received a 911 call. Upon arrival, they discovered Ruiz dead.
Pfeiffer was still breathing when he was brought to the hospital, where he died. The investigation is still ongoing, and since the offender committed suicide, it is unclear if any charges will be brought. An autopsy by the medical examiner is in progress.
