WASHINGTON, DC: For the 13th time or more since he assumed office, Joe Biden spread a disproved anecdote about a late Amtrak conductor named Angelo Negri, who is reported to have yelled, "Joey, baby!" while praising the president's lifetime rail travel.

At a Las Vegas event, Biden offered his most recent version of the story, modifying a few specifics, such as the precise distance mentioned, and praising rail infrastructure expenditures.

President Biden began the story and said, "I was vice president… I was going home to see my mom. I was catching a 5 o’clock train I used to take every single day — a 7 o’clock train out of Washington," as per the New York Post

He added, "One of the senior guys at Amtrak… He comes up to me — his name is Angelo — and he comes over, and he says ‘Joey, baby!’ and grabs my cheek. I thought they were gonna shoot him."

"And I said, ‘Ang, what’s the matter?’ He said, ‘We just — I just read the newspaper’ — because they keep meticulous mileage [of] how many miles you use on aircraft for the United States Air Force as vice president," mentioned the POTUS.

He further said, using a different number, as opposed to the million miles he more frequently mentions, "I read in the paper, Joey, that you traveled… one million, two hundred thousand miles on Air Force."

"He said, ‘Big —’ I’m gonna quote him exactly. He said, ‘Big deal, Joey.’ He said, ‘We just had a retirement dinner in Newark, New Jersey… You know how many miles you’ve ridden?’ I said, ‘No, Ang.’ And he said, ‘1,000,327 miles. I don’t hear any more about the Air Force.’ Well, guys, I — I’m a rail guy, not a joke," continued Biden.

CNN classified the story as "False" in 2021, pointing out that Biden didn't go one million miles on Air Force Two until September 2015—a long time after Negri passed away in May 2014 and retired from Amtrak in 1993.

A person mentioned, "The guy has lied throughout his entire political career. For some reason, it is acceptable," with someone else stating, "But you know, it's such a good story. True or not, he likes telling it."

"‘Not a joke’ but just another lie," noted one more. A netizen quipped, "Is he still building train tracks over the ocean?"

Another said, "He's the joke!" while a person added, "I’d love to make a movie about all of Joe bidens tall tales. It’d be the most confusing movie ever."
