Hoda Kotb hints at new project after announcing ‘Today’ departure
Hoda Kotb, whose departure from the famed ‘Today’ show won’t be happening till January 2025, recently shared with People, "I have something that I am super excited about that's in its infancy.”
She continued, "It's a whole wellness situation, and I got lit up by that just from stuff I've been working on and doing on myself.”
Gushing about her productive association with her friends and fellow co-hosts, Kotb continued in the interview with People, "I've learned to do a bunch of different things with breath works and what not through friends, through Jenna [Bush Hager], through Maria [Shriver], through all these different people, and I've been loving it."
Kotb clarified that she is "still early on in the stages" of getting a "really good wellness app together and do wellness retreats and things like that".
"I think it would be, number one, fun, and number two, helpful," Kotb continues. "When I learned some of these things, I was like, 'Wait, why do I feel like my baseline feels less stressed? Why do I feel this way?' So I was talking about this stuff, and so the more you're interested the more you go down kind of that path."
While her new business venture is still "down the road," she notes, "it is something that I'm excited about exploring and seeing what's out there."
Kotb’s announcement came just two weeks after she shared with her fans that she was leaving the ‘Today’ show.
The mother of two wrote in a letter to her NBC co-workers, "As I write this, my heart is all over the map.”
Kotb continued, "I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show."
She, however, explained that she wanted to spend more time with her family.
Admitting that she had been “weighing this decision for quite a while,” Kotb shared that she had a realization on her 60th birthday.
“I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie,” elaborated Kotb before adding, “I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited."
Hoda Kotb looks forward to finding new love
Hoda Kotb is not only looking for a professional overhaul in her life in the new decade of her life but also in her personal life.
During the interview with People, Kotb shared, “I've kind of been contemplating, wondering, thinking about what I wanted this next chunk of my life to look like as I turned 60. And I like adventure, I like new beginnings. I'm a sunrise person and not a sunset person, and I was wondering, what does it look like for me?”
She revealed that apart from spending time with her daughters, Hope, five, and Haley, eight, she is also looking forward to seeing someone romantically.
Referring to her dating life, Kotb said, "I think, when I look in my crystal ball or at my tea leaves way down the road, I do see that.”
"It's funny because I feel like I'm becoming more of me, and also, again, back to the time pie, that part of my life got such a tiny sliver,” elaborated the television host.
She emphasized further, "I picture that — a great love down the road. And I see it."
