LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jessica Alba, has opened up about her decision to seek therapy for herself and her two daughters, Honor and Haven.

The ' Awake' star revealed she was not perfect and wanted to be a better parent, especially to her daughter, Honour who was 11 at the time because of regular arguing.

How has therapy helped Jessica Alba and her daughter Honor?

Alba recalled that she started therapy with her eldest daughter, Honor when she was 11 years old.

“I didn’t want us to have a wedge between us. As her mother, when I say something, she’s going to hear it as an argument or as me trying to control her," said Alba.

Jesica Alba sought therapy to be able to explain things to her children in a way she couldn't

Alba said, "I wanted there to be someone who could explain things in a way I couldn’t,” Alba said on Real Simple.

She told Honor that therapy was a way for her to be a better parent and for Honor to express her feelings. “What I said to Honor was, ‘I want to be a better parent to you, and this is your forum to basically talk about everything that gets on your nerves that I do,’” she added.

“It put me in check. Like, ‘Yeah, I totally do that. And I’m sorry. I’m going to work on that.’ It gave her a little bit of perspective too—that I’m not the bad guy; I’m just being a parent,” Alba shared.

She added that therapy also taught her that it’s normal for kids to disagree with their parents and that she doesn’t have to be right or rational all the time.

“She’ll come out the other side of it, and I’ll still be here. I just wanted to get to that point, and it worked,” she says. “I’m not gonna front, it’s a process and I’m not perfect,” she concluded.
